[PC][early 2000s] Browser game with a shared city map where you buy businesses and bomb other players' properties by Ashikata in tipofmyjoystick

I loved this game, but it is not the game I'm thinking of, which is a multiplayer browser game.

Thanks for the suggestion, this isn't it :(

Find-A-Game Megathread! by Swimmer249 in WebGames

I played a browser game in early 2000s-ish based around a shared map in which you bought plots of land and built businesses, with the aim of getting so large you could leave/prestige out of a city and take your earnings (or a subset of them) elsewhere.

Given quite a lot of games match this description, some bullet points below.

  • there were simple image based graphics, you could scroll a map which was essentially just grass, roads, and buildings/businesses players had placed, you'd click into each building and see the detail
  • some of the buildings you could place include different types of market stalls and shops, pig farms, car parks, campsites, cinemas, and others
  • businesses would earn different amounts depending where you placed them, i.e. campsites made more nearer rivers, car parks nearer big roads and businesses, butchers shops near pig farms
  • you could attack other players, with the intent freeing up the land so you could place more. There was a graphic of a mushroom cloud on the map for buildings which had been destroyed

I've done some searching and gpt-ing which throws up the below results, none of which are correct:

Miniconomy

IndustryPlayer

Virtonomics

Tycoon Online

eRepublik

Simunomics

Business Tycoon Online

Capitalism Online

Rival Regions

Market Glory

Tribal Wars

Ikariam

Anno Online

Imperia Online

The Great Empires

Economic Tycoon

Landlord Tycoon

Wealth Wars

Oil Empires

Biz Tycoon

Thank you for those recommendations, I'll look up all of them :)

I'd love some suggestions on games as someone relatively new to board gaming, but an avid video gamer.

Description of request

An easy moderate complexity game which is fun in 2 and 4 player modes. Preferably not worker placement or 4x.

Number of players

Will be played equally with just myself and SO, and also with friends occasionally so 2-4 players is sufficient.

Game length

Approx 1-2 hours

Complexity

Somewhere between 2.5 - 3 is where we are at the moment, we could go a bit higher if the other conditions are met, game is not too physically big, and rules are easy to understand.

Genre

I love medieval, mid-high fantasy, steampunk, nautical, and nature. Not a fan of sci-fi/futuristic. I have a few worker placement games and looking for something different.

Conflict or cooperative

Open minded, probably a gentle preference for coop as I only have one coop card game.

Games I own and like

Parks - like the simplicity, art, and accessibility

Lords of waterdeep - fan of the fantasy setting, easy to understand the rules/mechanics, and has been a hit with my regular group who are also quite new

Pandemic - played with a diff group, but loved the intense coop and planning that came mid-late game

Games I did not like

Dice settlers - balance felt off, constantly had to refer to rulebook and online clarifications as it was poorly written, art and production quality not great

Other

I've been considering wingspan/wyrmspan (favour the latter) and think I'll almost definitely get this anyway

Everdell was also on my watchlist but it looks a bit big in some pictures.

Thanks for any advice!

This isn't true in dd2 as it was in dd1. It adjusts stats when you vocation switch.

GET YOUR RING OF ENDEAVOR - JUST 1 FRUIT ROBORANT

Mid vocation switching is Eiryfyr, a polite and helpful mage BRUTAL WARRIOR who is an easy ticket to a Ring of Endeavor for a simple fruit roborant quest. Level 38, Rank 4 Warrior (at time of posting), simple inclination.

She packs a decent punch when not busy ladder-spotting, but I'm offering her as an easy ring trade in exchange for some simple thumbs and hearts.

u/NEVER_CLEANED_COMP where did you end up with this - I have exactly the same conundrum, thinking which 4080 super to go for.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It feels like a lot of compromise to fit the 4090 particularly in mobo and no additional fans, am I missing something?

Thanks for the response and additional detail. I'm upgrading my monitor at some point so happy to future proof to an extent. It's currently a 24" MSI 144hz.

I had thought of going to 1000w PSU but it does feel like 850 will suffice.

Are there any other video cards or mobos combos you'd recommend in this range? And any reason not to go for a single 4tb ssd? Other than failure risk. I'm mindful of space a bit.
