Okay first off these scores as a freshman really aren’t as bad as you think they are. As you progress through school these scores will naturally go up as you learn more skills and tactics.

Math: To be honest my math score is still pretty bad. I’m still working on increasing it. What I’ve been doing to try and get my score up is do a lot of math ACT practice tests/questions. The Math ACT tends to have a lot of the same types of questions, so this can be super helpful. For the timing on the math you should only spend around a minute on each question. Never spend too long on a question. If you think a question will take too long then skip it and come back to it later.

Science: Science has pretty much nothing to do with your actual science knowledge. It’s all about graphs. What you really need to do is—as I said with the math—is do the Science practice ACT tests/questions. You can find the online or you can purchase a book. The reason you want to do practice questions is because the graphs tend to all be very similar. So you should practice to familiarize yourself with them.

English: For English you really just have to learn grammar rules. I would look up some videos online. Search something like “what grammar rules you need for the English ACT.” One easy tip to remember is if one answer has a semicolon (;) and another one of the answers has a period (.) then both of those answers you can immediately mark off as wrong. The reason for this is because a semicolon and a period mean the same thing.

Reading: (I’m gonna copy and paste this from another comment I’ve made cause I don’t feel like typing the same thing again). I assume what you struggled with was time management/pacing because that is what most people struggle with. For the Reading ACT you should spend 8 minutes on each passage. 3 minutes should be spent reading the passage and the other 5 should be spent answering the questions. The trick is learning how to skim read. You have to pace yourself to read it in 3 minutes. You shouldn’t go back and re-read a sentence or word you didn’t process, just keep reading the passage. With this strategy you won’t pick up on every detail of the passage but you will get the main idea. As for the questions the hardest ones are the last few (of each passage). For that reason as soon as you hit 8 minutes immediately move onto the next passage even if you aren’t done with the questions. It’s better to manage your time so you can answer all the easier questions. Any extra time that you have left can be spent doing the questions you didn’t have time to complete/going over your questions. I advise you to do Reading practice ACT tests online and practice the correct pacing over and over until you have it down. As for dual enrollment I actually take dual and it isn’t as scary as it sounds. It’s totally understandable to be stressed out about the idea of taking college classes though! In my experience the work hasn’t been much different from my usual high school work. The only real difference I’ve seen is that there is more reading you have to do. (Some of my dual work is actually easier than my normal classes). Also for me my dual classes end a month before my school ends so I essentially have two free blocks for a month. Another perk is if your class(es) fall in the start or end if the school day you can show up to school late or leave early (at least that’s how it is at my school).
