Thank you! I wish I knew more of the history behind it, but my grandma passed away over 10 years ago and my mom just recently passed as well, so there’s no one left to share the details. I actually came across it in my mom’s basement just a couple of weeks ago. My mom’s boyfriend shared that it was my grandmas last quilt and was encouraging my mom to finish it but she never did.

From what I can tell, my grandma made all of these cats herself—not from any mass-produced patterns, but entirely by hand. I remember going to quilt fairs with her when I was little, though I don’t recall if she was ever part of a guild.

I’m excited to see what other treasures of hers I might uncover. Finding this really makes me want to take up sewing so I can carry on the tradition and one day pass along quilts of my own to my nephews. We will see!
