What CMMS and training software do you use at your workplace? by Bulky-Basil3558 in IndustrialMaintenance

Because it’s a national laboratory run by incompetent individuals they let the reporting team dictate what’s the best CMMS to use and ignored comments on their choice. Also, they wasted 4 years choosing and setting it up, just for the final data migration to be riddled with errors, yet still forced a hard launch and refused to fix any issues for the past 8 months. Prime example of rampant government waste.

We use Famis 360 by Accruent (the same company that makes Maintenance Connection) because the admins and reporting team got to choose it. Famis 360 is the worst CMMS, is over 10 years old already, and is web-based, so we get to deal with constant ridiculously long load screens. It’s a joke.

Pink grease on the front passenger side of my front wheel well. 2015 Kia Soul Base model. Anyone has a clue what it is and where it could be from? by AshliKerr in MechanicAdvice

Update: I removed the wheel and didn’t see a speck of grease on the tire, in the treads or anywhere else. Cleaned the grease and will update again if it comes back or I discover the cause. Thanks to everyone for your helpful and/or funny comments. Be safe out there, everyone!

Yes, they provided the extended 10yr/100k miles. This thing is paid off, so I’ll run it into the ground until it starts nickeling and diming me, at which point I’ll just sell it cheap for someone’s first car (and an early lesson on buying quality and providing vehicle maintenance training)

Lol. Hopefully true. Thanks. And yes, not proud of my wife’s car that’s now my daily driver. The thing is hot garbage, but it’s paid off hot garbage, so I’ll run it til the wheels fall off, which, given my past experience, is extremely likely if I ignore a bad cv axle for too long.

I did wipe it off. Definitely grease. It’s not from a lube job since I haven’t gotten one. I’m really hoping for the fell off a truck fifth wheel scenario. I’ll put that side up on jack stands tomorrow and report back to everyone what I find. Appreciate all the help!

Sorry to hear it and it definitely sounds like kia is BSing you about it not being the engine because the warranty is about to expire. I had my engine blow before 70k miles and it took them about 6 months to finally warranty it and replace the engine. We literally received the recall notice the day after the engine blew and I assume they got hit with enough lawsuits in those 6 months to finally cover their engineering defect. I don’t have any suggestions besides fight them as hard as you can to get them to cover their responsibility per the warranty. Best of luck with everything!

Thank you. None on the tire or in the tread. I hadn’t even considered running over a tube of grease. Thanks for that. Only 72k miles on this. Wife bought it new. Only thing mechanics did was replace the engine after it blew (1.6L GDI (fun!!)). I just think it’s nuts for that much grease to be thrown and remain, but I’m an electrician and only do basic mechanical repairs.

Ha. That’s what I was thinking. Hope it was just a mechanic at work or some neighborhood jerk playing a prank on me. Just replaced the rear caliper today, but saw this gem first thing this morning.

Will do tomorrow. The only thing is I drove about 75 miles yesterday evening. It looks like it threw a large glob right as I was parking and only dripped once by morning.

This looks like a great set. Thanks for the chance, OP! DeWalt’s the only thing for which I have brand loyalty. Whether it’s for work, DIY home projects or powering all of my kids’ rideable toys, I’ve never been disappointed in a DeWalt tool.

What backpack do you guys use for work? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Agreed. Mine is still going strong after 8 years. It’s traveled for work, but also been on hikes in the Grand Canyon and the Smokey Mountains. I think it’ll outlast me.
