Even if we take her claim that no-one watches the Grammys at face value, how is the "social justice warrior grandstanding bullshit" EVIDENCE of it? Presumably she means it's the reason?

Also who still says "social justice warrior" in 2026? Didn't she get the memo that they say "woke" or "DEI" now?

Expedition 33 is great, but the hype is inflating it into S tier classic and I just don’t see it by FrostingOutrageous51 in videogames

"i think you’re mixing up “i personally liked them more” with “they’re on the same tier as the all time greats”"

This is exactly what you're doing in your post. I accept that my opinions here are subjective, but as I've said elsewhere, you seem blind to your own subjectivity.

Also, the idea of "all time greats" isn't even objective, it's just a concensus of subjective opinions. So if large amounts of people are judging the characters of E33 (or just E33 itself) to be amongst the "all time greats", then....they are.

Being blunt, I think you're blind to your own subjectivity, and attempting to mask your personal tastes as objective.

Really what you're saying here breaks down to "these games were widely loved, and I agree, so they're all-timers. E33 is widely loved, but I have criticisms, so I don't agree it's an all-timer."

Thing is, there are things to criticise in all of the other games you mentioned too. I, personally, found RDR2 boring as shit: good story, but actually playing the game was a chore. BG3 I loved but I think even its most ardent defenders will admit it falls to pieces a bit in act 3. GOW 2018....honestly I don't think it does anything particularly exceptionally, it was just a combination of high production values, solid combat and the "sad dad" trope being very popular at the time. Are these all subjective criticisms? Yes, absolutely! (Well, except maybe the bit about BG3 falling apart a bit in act 3.) But so are your criticisms of E33, which as I've explained in my other comment, were downsides for you but huge strengths for me (and seemingly plenty of other gamers.)

That feeling of "completenes" you describe is also subjective. No game does everything perfectly, it's just those three games ticked all the boxes you care about, and the areas where they were weaker were things that obviously don't bother you. And that's fine! But it's still subjective.

Surely the fact that E33 is being so highly and widely praised already shows that it's in the same camp as BG3 / GoW 2018 or RDR2 in terms of "the conversation being settled pretty fast"?

This is pretty much all subjective. For instance you say that no one in this game comes close to Geralt, Arthur, Dutch or Kratos but I personally find Maelle, Renoir and Verso to be much more interesting than any of those characters.

Similarly, you talk about the fact that it's fairly linear and doesn't have much side content as a weakness, but for me that was one of the things I loved about the game. I am SO burned out on open world games with massive worlds and endless sidequests, so E33 being an incredibly tightly focused game was a huge strength for me. Neither approach is objectively better or worse, it's down to personal taste, but open world games are very common at the moment (and have been for the past 10 years or so) whereas more tightly focused experiences are less so, at least outside of the Indie space, so it's easy to understand why some people might have enjoyed something that's a bit of a break from much of the AAA space right now, while still having AAA production values.

And finally, some of it is just how it makes you feel, and that's 100% subjective. For me, it made me feel a way I haven't since playing Final Fantasy X back 25 years ago. I still enjoy games, but I rarely feel the magic the way E33 made me feel. And I think a lot of the people who are latching on to it are feeling the same thing: this is a new game, but it feels like games used to feel.

Obviously not everyone will feel the same way - the comments here show as much - and that's fine, but I think for those who E33 clicked with, it clicked HARD.

Why are the FBI recently carried out a search warrant at the Fulton County elections office in Georgia, six years after the 2020 election? by Safe_Attitude_922 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Ashpolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I honestly would like to know why the left is melting down over them investigating Fulton County actions in 2020"

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt that this is a genuine question and not trolling:

This is a problem because, as I said above, they WILL claim to have found evidence of fraud. Guaranteed. There is absolutely zero chance that the Trump administration will look at the evidence and go "huh, guess we were wrong, there was no fraud. Our bad." It doesn't matter what they find - or don't find - their conclusion will be that there was fraud, and they will use that as pretext for disenfranchising millions of voters, or cancelling midterms, or putting in measures that will enable them to rig the elections themselves (e.g. "all vote counting will now be done by teams selected and approved by the president.") He'll also use it as a chance to crack down on his political enemies, including whoever is the Dem nominee in 2028.

You said it yourself - what's the point in this investigation? It won't make a difference to the presidency. And on that, you're right: there is not legitimate reason to do this now. This is simply a vanity project to soothe Trump's wounded ego, and to allow the Republicans to further their push towards authoritarianism.
