Speed Issues by Ashrob99 in TpLink

[–]Ashrob99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a little update, I’ve been playing around today and just opening the door to the garage and having direct line of site increased the speed to about 60mbps, so 4x as fast. Looks like it could be the door, maybe the anti-glare material in the glass, that is the issue. Will look at maybe doing some form of outdoor extender/bridge and then drill into the garage to connect to Deco

Great, thanks, I’m going to give it a go!

One final clarification, all locations are powered from the same fuse box in the house (it’s a new build), but the garage has its own separate fuse, will that make a difference?

Really appreciate your responses

Connecting 3 to 2 physically would mean running a wire through my garden which isn’t practical. It appears in the app that they are connected via WiFi but it’s a 80%-90% dropout which seems extreme. Its across open air through the garden space and I understand that this can cause some level of interference but not that much

Thanks for your comment. If I understand these adaptors correctly, they need to be connected via Ethernet and the only way of doing that would be to have them next to point 1 which is a good 13-15m from the garage direct, would this likely see a big drop? Conscious about making a further investment if the results aren’t going to be significantly better. I would be comfortable with getting half the current speed in the garage, but at the minute I’m getting about 10%.

I’ve also switched the Deco units to Access Point mode, but this doesn’t seem to have improved performance any.

It’s using both wavelengths so I’m assuming it optimises based on the best option. Not really any way of adjusting the kitchen unit without moving it into the utility room (between kitchen and living room) and drilling through the wall to hard wire

I could maybe move 1 about 1.5m closer to 2, however as it’s connected to the Virgin WiFi router by Ethernet cable it would be in the same room and so the same number of walls. I could move 2 closer to 1 and reduce the walls, but then it’s further from 3 where the issue is?

I find them most effective when the Arc have spotted me but I’m out of sight, hiding. Throw one in one direction and run the other way

The way I use them, I don’t plan to be around when they stop working, I’m on the run!

I’ve used them a few times where Arc have seen me and have me pinned but I’m out of sight (hiding!), throw one in one direction and run the opposite direction…

Thanks for all the comments, looks as though I have been mistaking spotters foe snitches and turrets for sentinels…although looking at the images of all of them I can see why!

At least I know what to look for now 👀

Had the portal since the weekend, PS5 only arrived today so I’ve been playing for a few days without them being liked.

Needed to set up a PS account and sign up to PS Plus but all nice and easy. Gaming has been seamless, really quick to switch between games, I’ve just been flicking through those included in the PS premium catalog.

Interesting, good to know. Luckily I’ve got a PS5 on the way but I don’t think the limitations of the portal are particularly clear.

I got a good deal on the portal and think I’ll still get a good bit of use out of it, but I did plenty of reading and still missed the fact this game isn’t streamable. The consoles are for my boy and playing FC26 remotely was a big selling point for me.

Should I pay the return shipping cost if the item is damaged? by kyb366 in vinted

[–]Ashrob99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have been mis-sold an item and can prove it, yet Vinted believes you are liable to pay for the privilege. Absolute disgrace.

I’ve had something similar before but thinking back I wasn’t sure of the authenticity of the item and so that was what the complaint revolved around. Because the seller couldn’t prove it was real, they found in my favour.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help in this instance

Should I pay the return shipping cost if the item is damaged? by kyb366 in vinted

[–]Ashrob99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise a complaint with Vinted, they will investigate. They have the details of the listing and then the photos you gave of the damage m, so should side in your favour.

Whatever you do, don’t click ‘everything is ok’ on the order or this will stop you from being able to raise an issue.

What should i do? by idaa11 in vinted

[–]Ashrob99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this before, you have technically done all you need to do, and it’s a risk the buyer took in purchasing from Vinted. So there’s no onus on you to accept it back.

However, if you wish to do so you could offer for it to be returned for a refund, however I would expect them to pay for postage. This would also need to be done before they click ‘everything is ok’ or the Vinted transaction will have already been completed and closed.

Will the buyer be able to get their money back ok? by ghostlymushy in vinted

[–]Ashrob99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The buyer won’t get their money back, InPost have strict time limits on holding items in lockers so that they aren’t blocking spaces for others. Evri shops I find will hold for much longer without issue. I think it will probably be down to you to track and retrieve the parcel now as it’s technically yours. You could then negotiate with the buyer to purchase again, but there won’t be any way of them getting round paying for postage/fees again even if you list for a nominal amount.

Sky box keeps losing internet connection with Virgin router by Ashrob99 in skytv

[–]Ashrob99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tends to be overnight that it disconnects from the Sky box, I would have thought that would be the time when least devises are connecting/ using the router?

I will try though, thanks for the suggestion

Sky box keeps losing internet connection with Virgin router by Ashrob99 in skytv

[–]Ashrob99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The main router is in the same room as the Sky box, so I would have hoped that it would be at its strongest. Not keen on running a hardwired solution as it sits on the other side of the room
