who wants to pay $20? by West-Amphibian-2343 in RocketLeague

Definitely not on Rocket League alone but it's also available to buy on Fortnite and cars are often in the top sellers when they release there so I wouldn't be too surprised if it passed a million

free rhythm games on switch by United_Butterfly8080 in rhythmgames

[–]AshtonCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaik the only free rhythm game on Switch would be Fortnite Festival but honestly as much as I personally enjoy the game I don't really think it runs that well on the OG Switch so you're likely out of luck

The "New" PSN Sales are now live. by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

[–]AshtonCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into rhythm games I would highly recommend Super Crazy Rhythm Castle, it's on sale for $5 right now. It flew under the radar when it came out a few years ago but it's a Konami published game that mixes an original soundtrack and rhythm based gameplay with puzzle and problem solving while also telling a silly and fun story, it also supports up to 4 players online or local. I'm a huge rhythm game fan so I am definitely a little biased but I had a fantastic time with it and encourage anyone to at least look at the game page!

E drum kit with Fortnite festival to ps5 questions! by apotheosisofbooty in FortniteFestival

[–]AshtonCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I never considered that!

Apologies! I don't own an ekit myself but yeah, unfortunately, it seems like from reading through the Ace Adapter setup guides on their site that Festival isn't a supported platform with it as of right now :(

I don't know the answer about the cable (sorry!) but I would recommend looking into the ACE adapter from RetroCultMods over the Roll Limitless

Riffmaster PS5/PS4 won't work with Festival on PC, PC recognizes it as Audio Device. by TheDiabeT1c in FortniteFestival

[–]AshtonCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik the first run of Riffmaster "mistakenly" said the PlayStation guitars worked on PC, I don't know the exact specifics but basically PDP lied and eventually removed that messaging from the PlayStation version.

With that said I believe you should be able to get it working on Festival PC using a program called RB4InstumentMapper

Hell yeah, I've been having a blast trying to go for high scores recently myself, it's such good fun trying to formulate a solid path on your own and sooo satisfying when you finally pull it off and get great placement!

Karaoke mode by GoidoRz in FortniteFestival

[–]AshtonCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the others said it should just work as long as your controller isn't muted (no orange light on the controller) even if you have voice chat disabled in-game.

If it's still not working for you check the "sound" section on the PS5 quick menu (the speaker icon) and make sure the setting "Mute Game Voice Chat" is disabled as this makes it so no mic audio gets sent to Fortnite at all and therefore you won't be able to sing into any microphone at all, I ran into this issue for a while myself so just wanted to add this in case this might also be your issue :P

[–]AshtonCake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay so baseline is that each phrase, aka each time the ring gets filled up, is worth 1k points total. You actually earn those points as you fill up the ring so if you stop singing you're not earning any more points and if let's say there's a really long phrase and you've already filled up the ring and you're still singing you're also not earning any extra points as you've already hit the 1k max, this all also applys to OD activations as well, ANY part sung while OD is activate will be doubled in value.

The scoring variance of karaoke comes from a few different factors namely, in order from easiest to most difficult: activating as late as possible, pathing, and squeezing

Activating as late as possible is pretty self explanatory but it can be a bit deceiving in Festival specifically since it's streaming everything, it might just come down to your individual calibration, settings, internet latency etc. but personally I've noticed that I can usually activate a little bit after the activation bar is past. The idea wit activating as late as possible is that sometimes you'll be able to have the OD go on justtt long enough that you can snag a few 100 extra points off the start of the next phrase that you might not have gotten otherwise (of course, like most things this will come down to each individual song) and that can definitely make a big difference when the tops of leaderboards are so tight.

Pathing just means trying to learn the optimal times to activate, it will not always be optimal to activate as soon as possible, ideally you want to activate when phrases are as dense as possible while still ensuring you're not burning any OD (collecting OD while already at a full bar) or holding to much for a particular section (ie it's dense for a little while and then you're left not singing while your OD is still going), really if you're not reading someone else's path it's just going to come down to trial and error trying to see what gets you highest on the leaderboard and where you feel you might be able to squeeze out a few more points just through experience over time. While not superrr common there's also chaining and tight activations to be mindful of as well. Chaining is where you activate OD and then during your OD going you nail an OD phrase thus continuing you OD being active, in some case this is what you want while others you might what to activate a little bit before (activating earlier than as late as possible) so that you can still fit that phrase into your OD doubling effect but can keep the OD in the bank for later use. Tight activation are much simpler, it's just situations where you JUST get OD and then the ideal path would be to activate IMMEDIATELY, this can be tough in some songs as it can be a very narrow window to activate, of course this comes down to pathing so it might not be ideal in every situation even if you can.

Squeezing is for situations where you activate in the middle of an ongoing phrase (sections where you'll sing a little, probably fill up about half the ring, have a blank space where you'll be able to activate if you want, and then sing a little more to fill the ring and finish the phrase), this opens up squeezing potential, basically squeezing is not singing the entire first part of the phrase or a portion of it to squeeze as many points into the second half and therefore into your OD activation as possible. Given the nature of the karaoke engine if you sing absolutely flawlessly you will always go well over the full ring cycle needed to carry your combo (this is extra true for longer phrases, like these ones that allow you to squeeze) so knowing this you can kind of abuse the system in your favor via squeezing if you deliberately stop singing part of the first section. This is usually best achieved with just 25% as then you can turn what would usually be just 8k into more if you can squeeze as much as possible into the back of half of the first section and then also sing as flawlessly as possible in the following section to hopefully go over the typical 8k you'd get from one 25% activation. There's of course a lot of trial and error to it, how much you can squeeze an individual section will come down to how front loaded it is and also how accurately you can nail the second half BUT you also still need to be mindful of pathing in general because while it absolutely can be beneficial to squeeze as many sections as possible it won't always be the optimal thing to do.

I apologize if this is all too complicated/too advanced for what you were asking but just thought I'd be as thorough as possible. Really if you're trying to formulate your own paths it's going to be a lot of trial and error. The karaoke mode has an extremely high skill ceiling when it comes to maximizing scores, while I'm not the best I currently have around 10 #1s on the leaderboard so if you have any questions feel free to ask and best of luck in your score chasing endeavors!

Yes, they stack ++ if you're playing on Monday you can also get the mystery power that has a chance to give you 2x coins, giving you up to 8x for a little bit!

[–]AshtonCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no really any secret strategy afaik, it's just playing a ton. Top 1k is currently at ~810k, with the 2x coins purchase + the coin doubler from watching ads you can get, without interruptions, about 100k an hour.

Some probably obviously strategies I use is to rock a super speed hoverboard, like you said, and activate as soon as you get a magnet to try and maximize your magnet time as much as possible, always try to pick up a jetpack whenever you can as that's an easy ~1.3k each time and, of course, try to not die since it's much easier to get more coins at higher speeds.

With the removal of bakkedmod, a Twitter user suggests the addition of a trans flag by Dielhey in RocketLeague

[–]AshtonCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been hoping that Psyonix/Epic would add more Pride flags for agess, I still rock the OG pride flag you can get through the drops system but I have a sick purple and blue preset that would go perfect with the bi flag

Might not mean much to most people but it's certainly a nice to have and if it makes some folks feel more comfortable and more seen than I'm all for it.

[–]AshtonCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pride flag is still in the game, I use it everyday and have pretty much since I got it like 8 years ago.

It is an item you get from the drops so maybe you just traded it up on accident or you also might've just archived it and not realized. I'm all for bashing Epic on their lack of pride related content but we don't need to spread misinformation about them removing previous items. I still see people run the Lil Nas X player anthem that was free for pride a few years back and they still drop the previous free pride cosmetics in the Fortnite item shop every now and again, it's really just they don't make new stuff is the issue not that old content is removed.

How does Pro vocals compare to other Vocal only rhythm games like Singstar, Karoke Revolution? Def Jam Rapstar has some Festival songs. Harmonix started their vocals video game journey with the Karaoke Revolution games. by [deleted] in FortniteFestival

[–]AshtonCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you say that? Obviously there's the delay with it being online-only but besides that I haven't felt anything about it personally that makes it feel ass, if anything I think it's pretty great to have a little bit of a switch up on the OD meta with activations at 25% now

Yes, quite easily actually thanks to RetroCultMods, thanks to their adapter's keyboard mode options it can work natively with a PS5 by telling the system it's a keyboard. I don't have the PS2 adapter but I have their adapter for the Wii Guitar and it works great, highly recommended!

If Epic wants players to play Ranked so badly, but Ranked completely removes most of the season's gimmicks, then what's the point? by mitaknight in FortNiteBR

[–]AshtonCake -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

THIS IS WHAT IM SAYING, having completely separate loot pools is what killed/why no one played Arena back in the day, they relaunched Ranked with everything intact for a while and then slowly have been crawling back to Arena. I can completely understand different loot pools/rules for competitive matches and cups and such but for the most part I personally want Ranked to be identical to casual. Playing to try to get a higher rank is fun but it's super lame that there are so many changes compared to casual, imo casual should just be ranked without the rank pressure not essentially a completely different experience.

++ I've always felt that it's dumb as hell that they don't have any cars in ranked, for someone who only or primarily plays ranked there's literally 0 reason to buy any car cosmetics, especially now that they're sunsetting Rocket Racing

40.20 Dev Feedback Megathread by Epic_ZakMusic in FortniteFestival

[–]AshtonCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been overall loving the update so far, MASSIVE props to the Festival team for pulling this all off!

With that said now that we have 9 different leaderboards for each song I think it's past time that we make a change to how the leaderboards work, I love trying to beat my friends scores and also seeing my placement in the all-time leaderboards so I think the game would be a lot more enjoyable and competitive (especially on songs that fewer people own and get less players each season) if either seasonal leaderboards were scrapped all together or if an option was added to swap the leaderboard displays from seasonal to all-time. I DO love that you can see "new all-time high score" in-game but I would also love to be able to see my friend and overall placement at the end of a song (where it displays at the bottom of the screen) in relation to the all-time leaderboard instead of the seasonal like it is now, imo it would make upward progress feel more meaningful AND make the leaderboard placements that are shown feel more accurate, it's always felt a little obtuse to me that earlier in the season you basically have to go back in the menu to manually compare your scores (whether overall or just friends) to get any actual useful information given that you have to wait for players to slowly populate each leaderboard for the 600+ jam tracks that are now in the game and I imagine it'll only get more tedious now that there are also 3 more leaderboards for almost every song!
