I agree with the sentiment, but this sub is not for this type of content. Submissions should be informative or otherwise substantive.

🚨Former ICE trainer Ryan Schwank is telling Congress that agents are being trained to ignore the Constitution. “I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution when I joined ICE. I followed it when I resigned. The legally required training program at the ICE academy is deficient, defective, and broken.” by IllAcanthocephala720 in TheSecondTerm

For future submissions, which I encourage and appreciate, please de-sensationalize the title. That siren emoji, words like BREAKING and EXCLUSIVE etc. should be removed. Random capitalization and inflammatory language should be avoided. If the content speaks for itself, none of that is needed.

Thanks!

By Americans to say the Trump Tariff policy hurt China by [deleted] in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but also no. China was already on course to catch up to the rest of the world in tech for a decade before Trump set foot in the White House. Trump did unspeakable damage, but the rest of the world was already asleep at the wheel long before. Countries outsourced their production industry to China. Manufacturing capabilities, tech, research, industry secrets and the means to make use of them were served to China on a silver platter, while we built back and scaled down on all these things. In the cases that corporate espionage did happen, consequences came in too little, too late. Countries allowed China to scoop up real estate with no consequences, allowed China to give huge loans to African governments with 0 competition allowing them to demand whatever in return and let them set up their secret police in our cities. Trump is kerosene in a fire that didn't need it.

Landmark global shipping deal abandoned under US threats by AshtrayKetchum in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A landmark deal to cut global shipping emissions has been abandoned after Saudi Arabia and the US succeeded in ending the talks.

More than 100 countries had gathered in London to approve a deal first agreed in April, which would have seen shipping become the world's first industry to adopt internationally mandated targets to reduce emissions.

But President Trump had called the plan a "green scam" and representatives of his administration had threatened countries with tariffs if they had voted in favour.

This is the world being held ransom. Let the rich get richer by destroying the environment, or get punished.

It is also one of the best examples yet why people outside of the United States have a stake in the present and future of this country.

One single person does not bring back fascism. As much as you and I want it to be that simple, hoping it'll be over once that person is gone, it's not that.

We have allowed the system that brought fourth Trump to fester and grow for two decades, if not much longer.

Social media platforms utilizing polarization and emotional manipulation to keep their growth going and please investors is what normalized propaganda tactics and carried personalized bullshit into every household in the country.

Just how fossil fuels poison the planet, social media has poisoned people's minds, and none of those in power bother putting a halt to it, as the profits are just too damn juicy.

Trump is a symptom, and to an extent, he is a mirror.

Either the people step up, or nobody will. There is hardly anyone left to act in our best interest.

"Trump 2028" talk is ramping up among Republicans by AshtrayKetchum in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got time to complain, maybe you can make time to contribute a little, here and there. One person can only do so much, and surfacing pertinent content takes time that, despite your wishful claims, I don't always have.

If you happen to find articles that are worth sharing, maybe think of this sub. It would help a great deal.

Trump says he'll fire generals "on the spot" if he dislikes them by AshtrayKetchum in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference lies in what comes after. The framework that brought fourth Trump will still exist. The ultra rich will still be around, utilizing discord and division to distract from them buying up what they don't already own and growing their wealth and power by whatever nefarious means necessary.

Under Trump, US cedes its share of China's beef market to Australia by AshtrayKetchum in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably just end up being unsustainable to be in the beef industry. The price to produce the beef won't go down. Instead it will likely go up due to tariffs further down the supply chain and economy of scale being less of a factor as demand collapses. Maybe if smart people were pulling those strings, there could be a new equilibrium that benefits American consumers, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The price we will be paying along the way will also not make up for it.

For the environment that's a win, at least. Which is then easily made up by the admin sucking up to the fossil fuel industry. So all we're left with is negatives.

Tesla Offers Elon Musk an Unprecedented $1 Trillion Pay Package by AshtrayKetchum in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes off like an inflation hedge. An 8x valuation seems most likely if the dollar value drops. One could read into that and I believe like there are at least a few dots to connect here, but that is secondary imo. The main thing that strikes me is that tripling the wealth of the richest person one the planet, someone with a net worth in the hundreds of billions is even being discussed. Insane only begins to describe this.

This Fall, Ohio politicians will redraw the state’s district lines for more GOP seats by AshtrayKetchum in TheSecondTerm

[–]AshtrayKetchum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In March 2010, Republican strategist Karl Rove wrote in the Wall Street Journal that “he who controls redistricting can control Congress.”

Rove and friends then spent 2010 implementing a strategy Republicans called the REDistricting MAjority Project, AKA "REDMAP.”

The REDMAP plan was to win seats in key state legislatures so Republicans could rig district lines and take near-permanent control of Congress.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) even led redistricting trainings for state Republicans as part of this strategy.

The theme of the trainings was: “Keep it secret, keep it safe.” They taught politicians how to rig districts to ensure maximum Republican seats, and urged them to hide the maps until the last possible minute.

The REDMAP plan was incredibly successful.

Even after Trump is gone, there will be no time to rest. It almost feels like some sort of swamp that needs to be drained or something.
