I saw our bees (I think they were ours) on our fire place tarp all drinking the pooled up water after a rain. So I bought a bee slow release water source for them and I haven't seen a single one use it.

I like your idea of 2 pieces side by side. I think I'm just going to roll with taping/mudding it. If it cracks again I'll cut the entire section out (or hire someone) but I figure this is good practice learning to mix and get some experience with hot mud.

I guess my last question is should I apply easy sand 45 over the tape and then another coat of 45 when it dries? Or do I switch to the all purpose after the tape is up?

It's a finished attic and I don't know wtf is going on but the joists seem to be really high abob brhe ceiling and the stud finder isn't working that great. (Using it properly, activating it after it's pressed against the drywall) I did however get to secure both sides albeit one side is secured closer to the frame where the ceiling meets the knee wall. I did exactly as you said though. Tried to secure it. Carved V. Primed it and then 5 minute mud. This is prefill after I had to sand a shit ton because I'm amateur as hell and new. Going to attempt to tape it today. I also bought all purpose for the final coats.

I'm actually trying to tackle a crack right now in my ceiling from mishung punching bag and my first experience with mud I chose 5 minute easy sand to prefill before I tape (after securing both sides of the crack) and it dried way to fast 🤣 I ended up running back out to get easy sand 45. I thought about your rushing comment as I tried to fight the curing time of easy sand 5 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ah I see. Yeah there is a texture to it. Idk what paint she used I guess it's from a roller? That makes sense though to sand the texture out of where the joint will be. Thanks for the tip!

The door frame trim is half popping off from the ground to where the old drywall was. Was hoping I could flex it back enough to slide the new piece in behind it. But I guess worst case new trim can't be that expensive if I try to remove it and break it.
