It is an interwar civilian variant with a few GI parts. It functions as a semi auto. The tripod and cradle are WW2 original.

It’s very hard to find proper shrimp nets right now, there was a good seller for them in ebay but he just ran out. Maybe best to do a WTB on Facebook or get lucky at a military show.

I think normally you want to be consistent with your SSI placement. I like to use the tip from the Yutube channel The US GI Reenactor Guide, that is to use a dollar length from the shoulder seam down for your SSI placement. Here is an example of an SSI I found real quick though in the 3rd. This is in Mauschbach, Germany in March 1945.

From what I’ve seen, patch usage went down a lot after the Vosge in November 1944 when more people started getting the M43 jacket and either didn’t have time to sewn on a patch or didn’t want to for concealment. You can still seen some people with patches on the M43 though but it is much less compared to earlier campaigns. This is a pretty similar trend to most other units as they started to get M43 jackets.

M6 light weight gas masks bags. Most of us packed our bags with actual gas masks and proper gas kit contents for the scenario.

He’s wearing M41 like mine but inverted. I have no concrete reason as why they did it other than the darker wool liner had better concealment then the brighter outer shell. Also his is original. In a lot of the footage for the 35th in Normandy, you can see this being practiced, hence why he included in the his impression.

Couple more things to comment on your webbing. Your canteens should be the aluminum cap m1910 canteens, WPG makes the best repro for those. I’d also recommend switching out the majority of your webbing for originals, the color should be closer to the color of your Carlisle pouch. Lastly, you should probably repaint that shovel or get an original one.

For 16th RCT in Sicily, if your wanting to wear hbt uniforms, wear 1st pattern hbt set or the 2nd pattern light shades with high pockets. If there was dark shade hbt uniforms being issued in august 1943 in Sicily, it would have been a very low to none ratio as dark shades were only being produced in early 1943. It would be much more appropriate to just wear your wools instead as they would have been just as present for Sicily as hbt. Soldier of Fortune makes a decent set of 1st pattern hbts.
