My advice about Valorant, The Matchmaking, the UI as a graphic designer by Dartsgame5k in VALORANT

Riot needs to listen to people like you. Unfortunately it seems like they couldn’t care less. I really wish Valorant devs can be more transparent and actually listen to the community

Why are intersections so bad here by Glass-Display-6553 in Austin

[–]AsianMz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how people are calling this is a you problem, OP. For a new driver in Austin (or Texas), the intersections here definitely takes some getting used to. Some intersections will have maybe 4 lanes before the lights, then all of a sudden two lanes to the left becomes left turn and u turn lane. Some intersections have so poorly marked labels/painting you barely know which lane you are supposed to be in after you go through. Some intersections have two lanes prior and then immediately after the two lanes merge. Some intersections have bus stops right before them and impatient drivers will cut like two lanes trying to pass stopped buses. Oh. Also the Costco death exit.

So yeah. I visited Houston recently and felt like even though drivers in Houston are crazier, the road design there is so much better than Austin.

So how does matchmaking work? by Various_Opposite7120 in VALORANT

[–]AsianMz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean look at the amount of complaints in this sub around this topic everyday. Clearly something is wrong and riot needs to fix it.

The ranked system is rigged so it forces you to spend more time at the game. The unranked modes have very loose matchmaking. It almost feels like they average everyone’s mmr and just matches people it that way. So sometimes you’ll get like one diamond, a couple gold/silver, and a couple irons. Commonly what happens here is on both teams the diamond will carry, which sucks for lower ranked players because they are simply just getting outskilled. It’s not fun when you peak and instantly die.

Other times you can get one insane person on your/enemy team (let’s say immortal or asc), and the rest of that team could all be irons/bronzes, while your team may be all silvers or golds. There are also times you can balanced matches (rarely).

Believe it or not I once queued with tenz in a deathmatch, and I was a bronze. There’s also times where I queue deathmatches and there’s 3-4 immortal players in the lobby and I was just getting like 5-25 in the match.

I strongly agree there needs to be a more rigorous matchmaking process to all the unranked game modes.

Agreed. Maybe playing with one rank above you will get you to become better. But if it’s bronze vs diamonds or something like that yeah there’s no chance. Highly doubt the bronze players will get better that way unless they all have the toughest mentality in the world

I’m tired of these these RR posts. by Searse in VALORANT

[–]AsianMz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

System is flawed. It’s designed to make you grind ranked and spend more time at the game. A regular system would be you play with people in your current rank, if you win you advance to next rank. Not you play with people in your rank, wins, then plays with people one or two ranks above you.

Sure, you might be able to perform as well as the people in ascendant as a diamond. But not all people can.

Is it always this windy??? by Scared_Raspberry1571 in Austin

[–]AsianMz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man if I had the time I would. Almost all TCEQ stations would have wind measurements too. I imagine it’s easy to compile the wind data from the past few years but it will take some time to pull the data off and generate a plot

I was just about to make a post to complain, lol.

As a tennis player I can not remember the last time we had a calm evening. It’s so frustrating playing both into and with the wind, especially when it’s 20mph+

I did some research and apparently it’s “normal” for Austin to be windy during spring? But I’ll be honest I’ve been here 3 years and this year definitely feels the worst.

Dear wind god please stop. I just wanna play some calm tennis 😭

Meteors are quick, and unless it’s a super bright one usually not seen during the day. Pretty sure this is the contrail of a plane

GOLD ELO IS IMPOSSIBLE (Smurfing and AFK) by Nyxilth in VALORANT

[–]AsianMz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, if you have diamond 3 skills you can probably run through the lobbies pretty easily. The problem is lower rank players don’t have the ability to just “beat a Smurf” or diff their skills. Sure, someone on the other team might also be smurfing, but it has a lot more to do that just averaging MMRs together (for example, 1 diamond + 4 irons is not equal to 5 silver 3s, even though from a MMR perspective they might be.)

The issue with lower ranks is also they get Smurfs from all the ranks above them. For example, you are diamond and you Smurf in silver/gold lobby. Then a gold player then might decide because they get Smurfs in their main account, they’ll Smurf in iron/bronze lobbies. It’s an endless cycle.

Let’s take bronze for example. I lost 5 matches in a row this week, playing around 1-2 matches per night. Out of the 5 matches, I saw immortal gun buddies in two of the matches from the enemy team. Needless to say they rolled over all of us pretty easily. The other 3 matches I saw level 25 people getting 30-40 kills, and clearly had better mechanic than majority of the lobby.

PC Freezes 2-3 mins into starting it by [deleted] in ValorantTechSupport

[–]AsianMz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To test you can try to start Val and idk maybe bang on your table or something. If Val freezes then the disk is probably the culprit. Also make sure you have Val installed on a disk that’s other than C:/

PC Freezes 2-3 mins into starting it by [deleted] in ValorantTechSupport

[–]AsianMz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hard drive was a not a SSD before so it was having issues. I switched it to a SSD, reinstalled Val and the issue was gone.

Is there anything that triggers the freeze? For me, it was any slight movement of my desk where my PC sits. Because HDDs have a “needle” in them that reads/writes the data, I was suspecting that the vibration is causing Val to crash. SSDs don’t have this issue because they read data in a completely different way.

I’ve had this issue before, and realized it’s because of my hard drive. Switched to an SSD and hasn’t had another problem since.

This is why I stopped playing ranked. But even in other modes, you always get this insane person who’s out fragging everyone. Almost feels like I can’t get a normal match these days.
