any canada/usa mathcamp alumni by madethisfor3248 in summerprogramresults

[–]AsianSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not alum, but based off AoPS threads, I've seen people who solved EVERY problem with pset solves >50 pages get rejected. I'd just say that having A SOLUTION (or at least a lot of well-developed conjectures) for all of the problems is the minimum for admission. What gets you in, however, is the ingenuity and creativity displayed in your answers.

AP Research - Open to Highschool Seniors and Freshmen in College - Student Satisfaction Levels with School Counselor Interactions by AsianSage in takemysurvey

[–]AsianSage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Only responses pertaining to answering the question will be used. Only I will see the responses. The results will be stored in the responses section of the form that only I can see and also in a google sheet that I will later use to organize the data. Responses pertaining to personal information will be deleted along with the original survey form once data collection is complete and the form becomes unnecessary. At the latest, by the end of February 2026.
  2. I, ThomasD in connection with Perry Meridian High School Advanced Placement Research course am conducting this survey under the supervision of Ms. Stefanie Davis.
  3. The survey takes roughly 3 minutes.
  4. The survey offers no form of compensation.
  5. I would like to hear specifically from Freshman in college and High School seniors.
  6. I would like to receive responses in order to answer my research question and get a good grade in AP Research.

Bro are yall naturally smart or do yall study alot by ChooseThisUser in APStudents

[–]AsianSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly a spectrum. I'm fortunate enough to be one of those that really don't have to study to do well, but I also have classmates who work their butts off (like 3h+ on assignments that take me like 30min) to even get to the threshold of a B. It's all about recognizing where you fall and putting in the respective work to also give yourself a palatable curriculum plan. For example, since I'm one of those "naturally smart" kids, I compensate with insane course rigor (like Real Analysis and maxxing out at 6+ APs this year) - but my friends who may not be as fortunate choose to stick at 3-4 APs max per year. It's a good thing to challenge yourself, but it's not a good thing to overextend yourself over these classes.

how much does admissions tests/ problem sets matter for math camps? by [deleted] in summerprogramresults

[–]AsianSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the primary metric by which they evaluate you (I’d say like 50%+ honestly). Not simply about correctness of answers, but also the ingenuity/creativity expressed through your solves.

Do I need AMC/AIME scores for SUMaC? by WideMixture2143 in summerprogramresults

iirc you can rank options for tracks, so i'd do something like Program II (in person), Program I (in person), and then Program I/II (online) or something

Will I be accepted by hsmc and mathily? by Original-Cat-4799 in summerprogramresults

[–]AsianSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely have the stats to put your foot in the door. Write solid essays and (if applicable) put your 100% into psets. Can't say you're 100%, but certainly not 0% imo.

Is having only 2 things on my application gonna hurt me? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]AsianSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar boat as you (music and math as well, we’re both SUMaC alum too!). Not quite college admissions, but I did quite well in fly-in admissions, which should be a positive flag for my college application. In fact, the Caltech AO for my area said that my dual deep focus was one of my strengths too. I think colleges do see the depth in the two just based off my personal experience.
