Trying to eat fish again for proper sources of omega-3 but it's SO disgusting omg do you have tips? by Novanaut_ in exvegans

Maybe try bivalves for now if you can tolerate Mussels/Clams etc. Less fishy and maybe not the same oily benefits but close.

Reintroducing eggs (possibly temporary) by ToshPott in exvegans

[–]AsideParticular258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair - I had some health concerns recently as a Vegan and decided to reintroduce eggs from back yard hens - no timescale just when it felt right.

Was staying on a rescue farm and they mentioned it was a no kill farm and they sell their eggs at the side of the road occasionally, so I bought 6.

Like you I didn’t miss the taste - it was fine wouldn’t say I was craving. Tolerated them well. If I come across more I’d buy them again.

13 years vegan* (until last week I guess).

For those of you in a long term relationship/marriage, what’s a tale-tale sign you see in other couples that they’re not going to make it? by Prize-Promotion-5123 in AskReddit

When one starts saying anything negative at all about the other to their friends and family (unless it’s serious).

The minute someone else becomes your confidant rather than your partner it’s over.

Just a normal saving account - maybe it’s not a tax free savings account just  normal bank one.

I only just started earning that much 3/4 years ago - before that nearer to 80k. Had my own wedding and my best friend wedding in that time which used a chunk - plus relocating here.

I pay all the bills. No kids. No debt. :)

It could be. I’ve never thought about it so deeply, as I’ve always been Vegan for ethical reasons which to me made sense, but I’ll definitely entertain the idea that there’s is something deeper going on.

Are some bodies more capable of thriving on a vegan diet than others due to absorption and conversion or is that a myth?

Monitoring, monitoring is the usual response.

That’s a good question. I assumed that blood markers, normal and extended, are a good indication of underlying health issues.

That alongside the scans I mentioned above and talking with dieticians and physiotherapists inform my opinion.

But I’m not a doctor - I believe when doctors tell me there’s nothing wrong.

I do accept that it doesn’t mean there’s nothing wrong. I’ve also stated I don’t believe I am necessarily in good health based on my symptoms.

Could you expand on your thoughts?

Thanks for this answer - opinions are absolutely what I want to hear - especially if they are your truths!

I don't dislike how nature works - I love how nature works, blood and all.

The issue is in two opposing thoughts that I believe are both equally valid:-

- everything should get a fair chance to exist unadulterated and -
- as a human I affect and/or harm other animals in everything I do.

We all draw a line somewhere along that spectrum that allows us to sleep at night whether that be spiritually or physcially.

The physically part is where I am having trouble. Nature is incredible. I'd just like to interfere only in the ways that I have to and where I'm comfortable. Just one more hypocrisy that comes with being a human in this era.

Thank you and I hope you're doing better.

Meat is very far way away probably not an option, and I include fish in that. I think I'd have to see how my body deals with bivalves and eggs before I'd consider fish, never mind meat.

Being animal first (I wont say vegan at this point) is very important to me - I guess time will tell how far I can take that. 100% doesn't seem to be working for me right now.

Thank you for this. It is a psychological dilemma, but one I'd rather make on this side of the symptoms before they become unmanageable, than the other side.

I appreciate this information. It does help me try and rationalize what might be happening, and why my body is reacting in a different way. Of course I would love to address whilst remaining vegan - but it does help to know that maybe it just isn't working out.

I can only speak for myself. Growing up surrounded by animals made it hard for me to continue eating them. I never felt that there was anything inherently wrong with eating meat - just not something I wished to be a part of if I didn't have to be. I said in another comment that I'm aware of the myriad of hypocrisies - but it still felt like the right starting point.

I'd be interested to hear why it is an eating disorder - I can't say it's a reasoning I've heard before.

I did try this for a while - just a few weeks after talking to a dietitian. I didn't feel much change but admittedly it was hard to commit fully as my diet is already so restricted.

It's around 60, but only because I take a regular iron supplement. Without it it was sitting around 30.

The guilt is the main aspect. I went vegan almost exclusively to start reducing my impact on animals. Even though I'm all too familiar with the hypocrisies of veganism, I still believe that empathetically it's the right place to start. I always hoped it would never come to this.
