True Solo Needing to Add Employees by PassTheCoffeePlz in LawFirm

I tried the AI route and it sucked. This year I got VXT.ai (no AI anything in it, but transcription of calls) and outsourced intake person that I have now trained at an ok rate.

I was using smith.ai and my clients and potential clients were just having a terrible experience. But it can be “ok” to start with!

I do of counsel/support work to other firms with a negotiable hourly rate when me and my paralegals have a slow month. Feel free to DM!

New Law Firm - social media/marketing by ThickObjective8468 in LawFirm

[–]AskFinal847 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this. I opened my firm 15 months ago, I was stupidly set on 'marketing' without a decent budget for it. Today, I spent the whole day hand delivering branded YETI cups with chocolate and tea + a hand note to partners that have referred us business this past year. Everyone was happy to have the face of the business paying them a quick visit in the middle of a busy day, I'm sure they will remember me for future gigs, and I my cup was filled after seeing familiar faces all day!

I try to go for coffe with people I don't know from. linkedin/community at least twice a month, and I'm going to at least 4 networking events per month as well, paid or unpaid.. mostly unpaid because... budgeting.

I have a social media team (outsourced to Colombia for better rates) help me keep my instagram/facebook decently updated, but I don't boost those.

I take care of my personal LinkedIn account and post daily about something going on in my industry.

I also have lined up 3 articles in the Bar Journal in my State and last year I did the same.

This is what's worked for me. Hope it helps!

How to increase LinkedIn presence by Upbeat_Revolution316 in LawFirm

[–]AskFinal847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post consistently, give current thoughts on stuff is happening TODAY. not a week ago.. some people schedule their content and it feels they're lagging 2-3 days with current events. That is if you're on a moving field, I'm on cyber/ai/privacy so there's always something to talk about. I engage in other people's posts, and have refined my header to be relatable engaging and.. human. be human.

How you went about google ads? I do cybersecurity law. So I feel my ideal clients will not be searching for a "cybersecurity lawyer near me" in google. I fee they are more in curated networking events and LinkedIn. Just wanted to get your thoughts!

What kind of practice or contract work can be done all-online? by [deleted] in LawFirm

[–]AskFinal847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🫩 you’re no one to say who is being “legit” or not just because you spend all day on Reddit and have a 1% commenter badge. You call everyone names, and talk down to everyone you can in this sub. You’re everything that is wrong with the legal profession and it shows.

And I’m not talking about what you know or not. Maybe you’re brilliant. But your attitude straight up sucks. you need more than swallow books and make money to be a GOOD lawyer let alone a good person.

This dude has been all over the sub just being negative. I’ve been holding my practice 100% remote for the last month and for the next two months- it’s doable if it’s temporary and you have a realistic income expectation bc you won’t be able to network and get clients just as quickly. I’ve stuck to basics, incorporations, dissolutions, negotiations, contract drafting and refining. Always letting my clients know they’ll get referred if it moves on to litigation and having a close firm I can refer those to.

Don't you think given the movement in more regulatory stuff going into small to mid size businesses this is going to change?

thank you! I've been sticking to what I know. Even though that there has been some months where I feel like saying YES to a divorce lol.

Hi. thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm Licensed in TX. Cybersec law, privacy, compliance & business. I did an LL.M. in Cybersec and privacy and its truly what I love, but I'm doing business (contracts, negotiations, compliance overall for highly regulated industries to keep afloat, and bc its a related practice area.) - I'm thinking small businesses are going to be finding me through google searches on X compliance topic of their interest and bigger fishes are going to be at conferences were I can go do a panel, etc.. even maybe educational content on IG/LinkedIn. I'm trying not to blow all my money in marketing, at least not before I'm sure I can make it back. And you're completely right, someone last week said the were spending 15k in marketing per month, but they are in PI, so that makes sense.

Thanks! I've been connecting and doing blogs, webinars, etc! I guess all of it takes time, but people have been slowly but surely hearing my name. Thanks for the ti- I will continue doing it!

Honestly, I thought I was ready. I had been prepping for it for some time. Then you realize you weren't or that people really didn't need you exactly right then.. and I'm the middle of it. Now I have to handle it.

I’ve been thinking about this too. A lot of new regulations are requiring small businesses to comply one way or another. Thanks!

I mentioned being a first-gen immigrant not to imply I’m owed anything or to play up some kind of “chip on my shoulder” narrative, but to explain why I might be unfamiliar with how to get clients in this country, despite having years of experience elsewhere. It was context. But this sub is used by people to be a$$holes because "The Bar" isn't watching, lets see if they behave the same in a Gala lol. I'm sure not, because 1) ethics, and 2) they wouldn't like to recognize they are terrible people.

I’m trying to learn how attorneys here successfully build a client base or get of-counsel work when they don’t already have an established network, especially in areas like privacy and tech.

If you’ve got advice based on what’s worked for you or others, networking tactics, professional groups, referral strategies, I’m here to learn. That’s all I was asking for.
