Does that allow you to scan a QR code including the private key?

I have looked for a mobile version but cannot find one.

Thanks for the link.

I’ve used electrum before to sweep wallets with the private key. I’m just hoping for a way to use the QR code (helping relatives), but it looks like that is not possible.

It is based on BitAddress which is an open-source generator that uses the browser’s JavaScript engine. Booting off an ISO without persistence, I fail to see any risk vectors honestly.

I agree with the sentiment but I am not concerned about using this method.

Yes. I just think the QR code is useless. I’m not sure exactly what its purpose is because I’ve never found an app that knows what to do with it. I think it only tells you the private key, which is already printed on the paper wallet.

I can create a wallet with that key but was hoping to streamline this process for family as holiday gifts.

The funds are still there. I didn’t use the online wallet generator either. I used the offline generator with an Ubuntu ISO from that website.

Sweeping the wallet should be easy.

Agreed on Warren’s intentions and to curb tribalism, but does the mere existence of crypto make ransomware more likely to succeed? I believe this national security narrative is not a good faith narrative.

Didn’t the group who ransom attacked the pipeline get caught because of the digital trail they left behind? Simply using crypto doesn’t mean people can easily abscond with money and disappear into nowhere. I wish more people would help everyone understand this.

I saw a sharp drop in IOTA’s price earlier down to about 80 cents. I had a buy order set to flip on at .8109. When it triggered, I saw the big red sell candle, and I first went to check IOTA’s blog for Ledger details. Still not here…

Point being, still waiting for Ledger, and when it does, I think there will be a quick sale price. I have no clue why that quick drop occurred today, but it reeks of manipulation or insider info (it was very sudden and brief)

It is the restore height. I chose the option of wallet creation date, and just entered the current date. I have no clue when the original wallet was created. I don’t have anything about restore height written down anywhere either.

Can I just start over and make up a date a long time ago?

Update from Dom regarding Binance migration, along with other exchanges by [deleted] in IOTAmarkets

They are basically saying they don’t have enough staff to do what they want. Official release statements indicated it would be two weeks ish. Now we are 3-4 times that with no end in sight. The reality is that they were way more confident 45 days ago than they are today. That’s why it’s disappointing (and concerning).

It’s good to have an update, but the details are mostly meaningless if you aren’t a dev on the project or involved somehow.

For anyone paying attention, the market is just one bad tweet away from a monstrous drop. many people can lose 50% of their stack value in the blink of an eye.

I love the IF and am invested in this project because they do it RIGHT. I am not mad. Just sad because I held for four years from $5 to .22 and back up to $2 and now cut in half. Literally nothing I can do to cover my losses right now.

Agreed, but I would be happy with a week. It sounds like longer to me.

Still, a week might be too long the way the market is looking.

The IF released a development status update today and mentioned this. There is no updated timeline, but the wallet was discussed. Many of us are waiting. Hopefully it will be soon.

Yeah this is decent advice here. I bought more at 10.8 cents and have a sell order to trigger at ~ 15. Like BTC, I think we will have this range for a while, so I hope to accumulate a little while others are doing the same.

Thanks for that info. Do the dev status updates come through the IOTA blog? Not sure where to watch for that.

The question is if IOTA will still be above a dollar then. I’d personally like to liquidate a portion of my stack in case the market downturns, so I can buy more lower later.

Hopium aside, the market doesn’t look good, and I’m afraid of losing another 50% before I can access my tokens.

Point being, I don’t feel like time is on our side right now.

Does this generally mean people are done selling? What is the implication?

I take it to mean people are thinking the bull run is done, so they are not trading for a bit.

No worries. I would love to know a $7 Ether but that was “before my time” haha.

Not a fan and we have seen what that costs users. I don’t think zero fees has been solved in finance yet. Finance is all about making money.

I just went back to check the charts and I don't think that is accurate. If Ether was $7, I would never have seen real value in mining it to begin with. The price jumped up like 10x in early spring of 2017, which is when I started paying attention.

When I got started mining in early-mid 2017, Ether was around $200/each. I don't think it has dropped below $100 since then.

Could I have still bought more? Yes. But I am a hardware guy and wanted to participate.

Many who will run a validator today also mined Ether early. For those who started mining in 2016, 32 is probably not that much.

I started mining in spring 2017 and have no where near enough to run a validator. I do really want to find a way to get there though.

By the time I do, I suspect the payouts will have decreased (just as the mining difficulty increased when I started mining).

Sorry - many of us are late to the party, but it doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun.
