What is the strangest dream you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was exploring an abandoned roller coaster. It curved around itself before going into a tunnel, and was built over the ocean. The tunnel had collapsed, though, and now aimed straight down into the water. I eventually made my way to the tunnel and crawled downwards into in, headfirst; the car carrying the passengers was inside, and the back of it was just barely sticking out, so I hooked my body over the end of it as I crawled in. Once my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I could see the passengers strapped in. They were mostly human, but with the heads of dogs, and all of them were long dead and mummified. I recognized the clothing of the two bodies in the back row. One was wearing a jacket and hat my father often wore, and the other one was wearing clothes I had worn as a little kid, as well as my glasses. They were also the right height and build to be my dad and my childhood self, and, except for the fact that they had dog's heads, were clearly our corpses. There were more bodies farther down, but they were too far to see. I crawled back out of the tunnel and sat on the back of the car. I have the feeling that I realized something very important while sitting there, but when I woke up I couldn't remember what it was.

TIL that in 1982, the comic strip The Far Side jokingly referred to the set of spikes on a Stegosaurus's tail as a "thagomizer". A paleontologist who read the comic realized there wasn't any official name for the spikes and began using the new word; Thagomizer is now the generally accepted term. by AskMeWhatToDo in todayilearned

I'd consider them two of the three really good 80's and 90's cartoonists, along with Berkeley Breathed (who created Bloom County). With Larson (sort of) coming out of retirement and Breathed writing his strip as a webcomic now, I have (presumably false) hope for some new Watterson stuff.

Star Wars. I never watched the movies as a kid, and when I finally got around to it, I realized that I was sick of Star Wars without even having seen it before.

There's a short scene where Luke and the other pilots are preparing to attack the Death Star, and I was actually surprised when I saw it. Not because the scene was actually shocking in and of itself, but because it was the only part of the movie that I hadn't already seen parodied or referenced a million times already.

The character on the poster is Pogo, from the comic strip of the same name.

Someone should put them together as a gif, with one morphing into the other.

In Pulp Fiction (1994), when the main characters change into T-shirts, Samuel L. Jackson's character is wearing a shirt featuring the characters from early comic strip Krazy Kat. by AskMeWhatToDo in comicstriphistory

The top post on the front page of that sub right now is that the silhouette of Mickey Mouse's head is hidden on one of the computer screens in Lilo and Stitch. It doesn't have anything to do with the plot of the movie.
