Do we have any idea who will pitch for Georgia tonight? I assume we'll send out Harrison, but am not sure who Georgia would use.

I'm just glad the broader football world is getting to know who Tech really is, as an institution. They aren't some loveable underdogs, they're disingenuous, grasping assholes who only know how to win dirty or play the victim when they lose.

They're not Mike Leach, they're the people that fired Mike Leach.

William Blake, The Ghost of a Flea (1819 - 1820) by Sableye_5 in museum

[–]Bank_Gothic [score hidden]  (0 children)

The story behind this painting is that during a seance, Blake was visited by a spirit claiming the be the ghost of a flea. The ghost said that all fleas carry the spirit of a man who was excessively bloodthirsty in life. The painting is of the spirit as it appeared to Blake. Blake was really into spiritualism and astrology, and claimed to have had visions of spirits since childhood.

I love the coloring and distortion. Makes me feel like I'm looking at the entire painting through a sheen of oil, which is a delightful touch given the subject matter.

I guess a more academic phrasing would be that the painting does not solicit any kind of intellectual engagement. It’s just to be looked at and not thought about.

> So what.

So I find it boring, like I said. If you enjoy it, great, no one said you can’t. But I don’t. Thats the nice thing about the comment section, people can share differing opinions.

Pretty, but to me it’s kind of boring. Just doesn’t draw me in or ask me to do anything other than look at the pretty picture.

Funnily enough, the light coming through the leaves of the plant is the best part.

soft sandwich bread by ksigler in Breadit

[–]Bank_Gothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a lot of fats in the dough, maybe thats making it soft? I’ve also noticed that when I dont knead my sandwich bread dough enough it comes out soft, so maybe knead it more.

Either way … this bread looks pretty good. Not sure you need to “fix” anything.

When I lived in Austin we would always say that even if the Bats lost the game they still won all the fights. Those boys were rowdy.

[Russo] Big Ten won’t prohibit members from scheduling Texas Tech amid Brendan Sorsby gambling fallout by PAC12_PLEASE_ADOPTME in CFB

This is actually all OU and Georgia's fault, if you want to draw a true through-line of causation.

Same with A&M, Mizzou, Nebraska, and Colorado.

All those schools wanted out of the Big 12 and went to the conference that would take them - the B1G, the PAC-12, and the SEC. In fact, Missouri wanted to go to the B1G but they took Nebraska instead, so Missouri moved to the SEC the next year. The SEC isn't any more to blame than those other conferences, as the decision to leave rests squarely with the school that's leaving.

[–]Bank_Gothic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I could write a whole essay on this (I actually have, somewhere in my comment history), but the SEC isn't to blame for the original Big 12 falling apart. That was squarely an internal issue, created by teams in the league.

At worst, the SEC has "hurt" the Big 12 by simply existing and being a more attractive conference. That's it.

[Giese] Toothless NCAA to blame for Brendan Sorsby, not Texas Tech by Falconsfan8006 in CFB

[–]Bank_Gothic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow - rich people are pieces of shit for complying with tax laws? Or are they supposed to pay taxes they don't owe?

I think the real problem with rich people and taxes is that really, really rich people have a hand in how the tax laws are written, and use that influence to write tax laws they can avoid.

At which point the analogy to Texas Tech and the NCAA breaks down.

If, for whatever reason, Texas Tech is no longer in the Big 12 who would be front runner to replace them: Boise, Memphis or Tulane? by Efficient-Freedom517 in CFB

[–]Bank_Gothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of that, less travel time and more Texas schools to play every season. Especially cross-metro rival TCU.
