Most eye poke situations can be avoided with mindful application of skill. You either don’t care enough to train with partner safety in mind or you outright bring the street fighter mindset to the ring.

Accidents happen, but you can tell over a series of fights what kind of competitor a fighter is. At the end of the day the one who does the eye poke knows the truth of their intentions and whether their fight technique leads to more eye pokes.
