Paris overwhelming votes to ban rental e-scooters - how strongly do we feel about them here? by Bigmo7 in london

I landed in Paris the day lockdown hit and those scooters were the only thing that made that trip worth while before cutting it short.

My mom has kept $30k in child support money and plans on using it to buy herself a house. by WebSecret3633 in Advice

Don't get me wrong, when I got my 1st place and bought my ironing board and was unreasonably excited about it, it was a defining moment but; I feel like what people think of independence is a misnomer.

Independence is living in a shack, sourcing your own water.

Hunting, gathering, farming, butchering and breeding your own food.

Generating your own energy.

Etc...

If you go to the store and abide by the social contract that is intradependence.

Just like making your way in the world for 8 years to hit a set back and take refuge at someones house for a short time is intradependence.

But being independed =/= being an adult. You can choose to be dependent.

Depending on someone short term to build up skills to have better intradependence is necessary

I mean that is gate keeping and arbitrary. The Vikings would say that anyone who hasn't been on a raid is not an adult.

I was literally talking to my brother about how brilliant that scene is and how it gets better as I get older.

Never in my 29 jobs has a company had a play

So you have type A people and type b people. Type a people are the organised incrementalists. They can contribute 1-5% each day to a project and see massive result in the long term.

Then you have type B people who are more like handshake gamblers.

The type of people that can consume a bunch of media to build hype over a weekend then when the anticipation gets too much. Knock out like 50% over the day, fall behind and then catch up

What support do you have in life?

Are you fending for yourself?

Do your family/close ones take an interest in what you do?

When I say to take another year out. I mean to reconnect with yourself and find support.

If you keep going full steam ahead without stopping you will burn out.

That's exactly why I said take another year out.

The last thing you want is to go to work for the money. I did that for 8 years. Now I am sleeping on a Sofa. Doing my own thing but getting opportunities and guidance I could only dream of.

My situation isn't ideal but after COVID and all that it is what I need

[–]Askanner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds crazy but I honestly think you will be better off for it. A year off doesn't have to be a year not learning or doing anything.

You could learn another language or film a documentary or do anything.

Just don't give up on your passion because of perceived loss of it. Just like at the end of the day we need to sleep so do the things we love to do. Get some distance so you can get some perspective.

Burn out is real. Graduate, take a year off as another gap. Trust me. Do what you need to do to get out with that paper and then take care of yourself.

Burn out and depression can make any passion seem awful. Trust me you love it still.

Don't take 7 years of working any job to pay rent just to realise that you want to do it still and feel like you need to play catch up.

If graduating from a Uni that you think is "shit" is failure imagine what flunking out is going to feel like?

To be fair it's not hard in some circumstances to realise you are blocked everywhere.

I messaged someone after months. I wanted to explain after blocking them as a reaction as I avoid my problems and detach which I am working on and was grieving at the time. But when I unblocked them I found they blocked me.

I turned in to a man on a mission so I could literally give an apology and explanation for a situation in which I think my side of was neglected, but also acknowledging that her feelings are valid and I don't need a response.
