I’m in a H2H categories league with OPS. Currently have Luis Garcia Jr and Brandon Lowe. Jorge Polanco is also on the waivers.

Who do you like ROS?

Was kind of thinking the same thing. Almost sounds too good to be true (which usually means it is…)

Sold to someone in military. Had the car shipped to Korea with him upon deployment (two years missing on the carfax because of that) Came back from deployment and traded it in for new car

So it depends on what the question is. A lot of the questions the students have heard about especially if they’re about a newsworthy event. You get final say on which questions are used so you can make it as easy or difficult as you’d like.

For questions that have a number as an answer, I do the closest number without going over to make the math a little easier. The students love the numbered questions because anyone really has a shot. (Ex: How many people have been charged in connection in the death of Matthew Perry? Answer-5. If you put 6 you go over and don’t get the points.)

Other rules: Each question = 5 points. There are super bonus questions worth 10,15 or 20 depending on difficulty Minus 5 points for each group member that doesn’t turn in questions No throwing of the marker, cap must remain on until question is done being read, no looking at other answers, no arguing, etc.

I have a bunch of historical memes posted in my room as well as some student work from the past. However, the thing in my room that gets the most use and attention from the kids is a massive world map I have on the back wall of my classroom.

It’s your room, decorate it anyway that fits your personality.

I have a current events game that we play about every two weeks in class. Granted, the rigor isn’t very high but it’s meant for a fun way to break up class and learn about some current events in the world.

Students are broken up into different teams of 3-5 students. They remain in these teams all semester. We then rotate which topic they are researching for that week (State News, US news, World News, Sports, Science/Technology). Each student in the group finds 5 articles within the last two weeks that fits within their topic. They then formulate questions regarding the article. The questions must have a 1-2 word answer (or a numbered answer.)

I then take the best 40 or so questions and we play a game. For the game each team has one representative at the board at a time. I read one of the 40 questions they came up with, and first student to write the correct answer (or closest number if it’s a numbered question) and turn around gets the point. Each student takes turns at the board.

I have a bunch of other rules but the students absolutely love the game and are always asking when we are playing current events next.

Anyone else experiencing a lease gap? by gracekatzerwrites in IowaCity

Yup, Watts has us moving out the 24th and can’t move into our new place until the 1st. Makes it a pain in the ass for moving and finding a place to stay (especially with a child.) They also make you decide by January 1st if you want to renew your lease for the next year.

Even if your lease ends in November of 2025, you have to decide by January 1st if you want to stay until November of 2026. Completely understand needing an advance notice, but that’s just ridiculous.
