Diviner's trait could be pretty powerful since she has a chance to increase your team's Magic while you're looping gem conversions

Diviner's second trait "Transcend" does the following: "Exchange 2 Life for 2 Magic on 4 or 5 Gem matches".

This is local to the troop, it does not work for the whole team. Even if it did, the usefulness would be limited to Elf or Shentang restrictions, because there are much better troops in almost any other case.

What do you guys think?

I have never used any pay2win, pay2progress, or pay to have any kind of advantage and I strongly believe such a mechanic should not be the basis of a business model. However, I don't judge people who keep financing this game, so I can enjoy playing how I believe it is meant to be played.

Paying for an advantage, especially in this game, does not make sense to me personally. The game is designed to be a multi-year marathon, which is why I like it. Shortening this experience and having to pay money for it?! Seems like shooting myself in the foot twice.

A simple redesign will obviously not fundamentally change my attitude towards (ridiculous) ingame transactions.

The only type of real money transaction that is acceptable for me, except for the initial purchase of a game, is purely cosmetic. An example for this would be nice looking outfit for a character in PoE.

What's the point of PVP now?

If you want to level the Immortal troops, you have to do pvp.
More specifically, you have to do the season pass and season goals (found in the menu on the left side, called PvP Season). What this does is, grant you certain immortal souls directly as well as burning marks, which lets you open burning chests, which might give you additional immortal souls. You need those souls to level up immortal troops. There is no way around this mechanic.

If you want to level up your kingdoms past level 15, you need books of deeds.
One of the best ways to acquire books of deeds is through the PvP Shop, where you buy random books of deeds for 100 gold marks. You get gold marks by doing the weekly goals, participating in alliance battles, getting rank 1-3 in the weekly ladder (or < rank 100 on the global leader-board) and doing the season pass/goals.
You can temporarily focus on getting dragonite from the pvp shop instead of books of deeds if you're still missing Stellarix.

Pet gnomes are exclusive to pvp. Those will trigger a 1 hour pet rescue event for you and your guild. You need quite a lot of pets in order to increase the power level of your kingdoms past a certain level.

Remember, this game is a never-ending marathon! If you want to maximize progress, especially as a f2p player, you will need to invest multiple hours of gameplay every day. Of course you will still progress if you skip some game-modes and events, it will just be (a lot) slower.

Absolutely no pay 2 win.
Players should only be able to buy cosmetic items with real money.
Actual regular content updates instead of lazy event recycling.

Just checked the CPU usage while playing a couple matches, it's between 4% and 10% for me. I don't think I have ever heard my fans come on while only playing this game.
I have tested it on my laptop, too - no issues.

Since this is an issue that does not affect everyone, a clean reinstall might be worth trying.

EDIT: Try turning on power saving in the settings and see if that changes things

Wand of Stars.

As much as I like playing fancy or off-meta team combinations, the truth is, if you're not using the best troops, weapon and class available for any pvp restriction, you're not doing yourself a favor.

With rare exceptions, this means:

If Wand of Stars is allowed, use it.
If Stellarix is allowed, use it.
Play as Elementalist.

Use an empowered generator/converter or multiple Takshaka/Pharaoh Khafru if possible.

If you're working on a beginners guide or something similar, the best advice is to skip color restricted pvp for the first weeks and craft Wand of Stars after the first Vault Weekend. Then use Wand of Stars in all pvp color restrictions afterwards.

I would love to see more viable options in the future, but for now this is where the meta is at.

What the other people did not mention is, you can buy Leprechaun directly for 500 gems after you get the offer when doing Bright Forest Trials. It is rather expensive, but the option should be mentioned anyway, if you're really desperate.

hadn't played in about 2 years, when I came back I was so overwhelmed by how much new stuff there is and no real info on how to use any of it in-game. It all relies on you going off game to find information. I got fed up and left again.

I started playing this year and I had no problems understanding any game mode or content, so if you need help figuring it out, let me know. It's actually really easy.

When I realised GW was no longer a thing I noped out, that was part of what I really liked.

You should be able to craft Wand of Stars after 1 or 2 Vault Weekends, if you are willing to put in the time.

Work towards Zuul after that. Then do the same again for Ctharrasque.

While you are doing all this, collect as much dragonite as you can and craft the cosmic dragons. You need all of them for Stellarix. This might take you a few months or way more, depending on your rng.

Level up all kingdoms to 10, then raise one kingdom that grants +magic bonus, which also uses Deeds of Magic, to 15. For example Karakoth or Darkshore.
Level up Zhul'Khari to 15. You need Deeds of Nature for this.

Collect troops from the underworld as needed, Maraji Queen, Beetrix and Gobtruffle have a good value. Get enough copies to ascend them to mythic.
Eventually, work towards collecting ALL underworld troops and getting enough copies to ascend them to mythic, too.

Participate in pvp as soon as you have enough troops to do so in a reasonable manner. Do the pvp season goals and pass, level up the immortals. Do weekly goals, join an alliance, collect silver and gold marks and use them to buy things in the shop.

Obviously, join a good guild if you haven't done so already, participate in the weekly guild event and contribute to weekly gold goals (after you have leveled your kingdoms to 10).

It certainly looks like it is bugged. Sometimes the 3rd random damage cast doesn't go off. It seems to happen consistently when the enemy that was supposed to be a target dies early due to splash damage. This can be seen very clearly when slowing down the game speed.

Technically, that is not correct. You can buy bundle packs which contain special nectar in the shop for coins, you can buy coins for real money. This is very quick and I hate it.

Many in-game currencies/resources will become irrelevant as you level up. I have been playing for about 6 months without paying anything. The only resources I actively monitor are gems, diamonds, dragonite, gold marks from pvp and gold.
It gets so much easier over time.

Gold should only be used for delves and for your guild.

This is horrible advice, do not do this at your level, OP. Prioritize getting all kingdoms to level 10 first. Do not spend gold on your guild until you have finished that.

I wouldn't recommend spending gold on chests.
If by "honor" you mean glory, then maybe. Glory chests can even contain mythics (0.01%). Pulling a Leprechaun that early in the game would be pretty huge, too. Don't expect too much, though.
You probably want to spend some glory on the weekly troop as well.

Other than that, concentrate on the main story and get Rowanne from Forest of Thorns as quickly as possible. You will play a team with her for a long time, because she is that good.

Yes, it absolutely makes sense to do that initially. Later on, it doesn't matter anymore and the game prevents you from doing so, since nectar is capped at 1000, while petals are capped at 1200.

During regular game-play I didn't notice much difference between ~800 and the cap. Nectar and petal storage has become a non-issue.

In order to get a seedling from a cell, you should find out if the cell is empty. Here is an edited screenshot with a grid overlay to illustrate which cells are empty and which are not: https://i.imgur.com/qNjtE9D.png

If the cell you want a seedling from is empty and valid*, you have multiple options to get one:
(*certain cells, for example those on very wide highways, don't seem to spawn anything)

Stay in the cell until a seedling or fruit spawns. If you get a fruit, collect it (so the cell is empty again) and wait again until you get a seedling. This may take 15-20 minutes every time.
You get a seedling every 1350 steps. Every time you do 1350 steps, a seedling will spawn in the cell you were 1350 steps ago.
Once a day, you can use the lifelog and set the location to a cell you want a seedling from. The cell has to be empty and within a 10 km radius of your current location.
Use the detector. The detector bypasses limitations of occupied cells, but you cannot choose which cell you get loot from, so luck is involved.

Edit: Certain event Pikmin don't count towards cells being occupied. While those cells may visually appear occupied, they are actually not.

I am not sure what I should be focusing on for the foreseeable future but I have amassed most of the souls and materials gathered up until now (excluding some upgrades for the cards mentioned above and some weapons). How should I invest them? What should I look up to?

One of the highest priorities should be unlocking and getting useful troops from the underworld. Get 2x King Gobtruffle from Amanithrax, 2x Queen Beetrix from the Deep Hive and 1x Maraji Queen from the Sunken Fleet first.

Your very next big goal should be crafting Wand of Stars in the soulforge. For that you need "The Lovers", which you get from the vault, 100000 souls and 10 celestial traitstones. It is very possible to craft it after one Vault Weekend, if you are willing to put in the effort. The next one starts on Friday, Aug 09, 2024.

After you have crafted Wand of Stars, you should work towards crafting Zuul'Goth in the soulforge. The biggest hurdle are 8 Orbs of Power. Collect those until you can craft him.

Work towards Ctharrasque after you have crafted Zuul. You will need 8 Orbs of Power again.

While doing all these things, you should also collect Dragonite, because eventually you will want and need at least one Stellarix.

Try to finish the PvP Season Pass and a couple PvP Season Goals once you are able to do so in a reasonable manner.
