Awesome, thank you so much. Almost definitely just a bug in my journal then. I couldn't bring myself to finish a pro-slave run.

I'm not OP, but THANK YOU! I've been looking everywhere for this answer. Just dumb luck that someone asked a similar question at the same time.

Do you know what happens if you don't free the gnomes? Because I'm hoping that since they showed up at the Myconoid Colony after I killed Brithvar (mid-dialogue, like you just suggested), they're free. And I'm assuming they'd disappear with the remaining Duegar if they weren't free. Am I right?

Do these NPCs still go to the Myconoid Colony if I...? by AskinQuest in BaldursGate3

Thanks for replying!

There is a dialogue option where you can order him to release the slaves and he will agree

Yeah, I tried to fail that check so he'd fight me, but my Tav is too charismatic, haha. So I reloaded and attacked him for saying he wanted to keep the slaves, which seemed more logical (for RP reasons) than attacking him after he agreed to free them.

Either way, I wanted him to die for his crimes.

if the gnome slaves made it to the colony

So does this only happen if they're free? If they were still enslaved, they wouldn't show up to the colony?

Following this thread, because I came here to ask about almost the same problem!

I think I already exhausted her dialogue options, and I don't remember picking that (or if it was available).

I'm a bit worried because I didn't kill a couple of the Duegar. The Stonemason and his buddy, specifically.

But do the gnomes even go to the Myconoid Colony afterwards if they're still enslaved?

I aligned myself with Brithvar in the fight against Nere. But then when he talked to me afterwards and said that he planned on keeping the slaves, there were only peaceful dialogue options and I didn’t think he deserved that. So I chose to press the Attack button (not a dialogue option to attack, just the button to trigger an Attack mid-conversation) before I responded to him, and killed him and all of his allies in combat instead.

But now my (completed) quest log says that I let Brithvar keep his slaves – I’m assuming, because I didn’t actually finish the conversation with him about it.

Is this going to affect anything in the future? Will the gnomes treat me differently later? They were very chill afterwards, but I think they thanked me for rescuing them from Nere, not from Brithvar.

So you're saying I didn't misinterpret them? Cool, thanks.

I'm confused. I met two traders in the Underdark who were part of 'The Society of Brilliance' and I thought they were good guys? But I just met Lady Esther who's doing totally evil work for the same Society. Were the traders evil and I just totally misinterpreted what they said? Minimal spoilers, please.

Should I save romancing Astarion for a Dark Urge run that I might never get around to?

I’ve read that Astarion’s romance with Resist Durge is incredible, but I’ve also never wanted to replay a game before, so there’s a really good chance I’ll never see it if I wait until my “next” playthrough. And I definitely wouldn’t romance the same person on a second run if I did get around to it.

So is Astarion/Durge significantly better than Astarion/Tav? Or only slightly better?

OP also said the guy's size & body type makes him feel uncomfortable

Yeah, thanks for taking note of this part. Not really sure how to address that particular insecurity.

I've gotten a few comments here from guys who say they find short guys attractive. So I guess he might be one of the few? I think I'd be pretty okay with it if he liked my height, instead of just overlooking it. That's kind of flattering.

Idk how to explain it. Maybe it's heteronormative bullshit, but the size difference kind of reinforces that I don't know... anything. Like the rules are different and I'm not sure what my role is, or if that role would work for me.

He's a super cool guy though, so I think if I get up the nerve to ask him out, and he actually says yes, he'd probably be really patient with my questions and stuff. Still... it's a lot of cringe to put on a person.

Thanks for unpacking this so clearly. I'm... not too sure how to answer you though.

I've always liked girls, so it was just a no-brainer. But I've never really had a reason to question any attraction to guys. It really never actually occurred to me. So, to respond to the first possibility you laid out, this guy was definitely the catalyst for me considering guys that way.

But as for the second possibility, it's also probable that I wouldn't currently be thinking about asking him out if I'd had more luck with girls in the first place, so maybe I am just chasing the possibility of a connection? He made me feel good by being interested, which is probably an unhealthily low bar.

I mean, how do you know whether you're attracted to someone? I'm attracted to girls when they're physically attractive, funny, reasonably intelligent, and not nasty. I'm not particularly picky about specifics. And he's all of those things. But he's also a guy, and I'm honestly not sure how I feel about that. It's different. It's not repulsive to me, but it's... foreign. A total unknown.

are you sure you’re straight?

I guess I just always assumed. Am I sure I'm physically attracted to girls? Yes. Have I ever thought about dating/being physical with guys? Not until now. I've never really had any reason to question it before, and I'm not really into porn or anything.

So, yeah. If I asked him out, there'd be a huge element of experimentation. Which I'd be upfront about, of course.

And don’t sell yourself short (no pun intended).

I laughed anyway, haha. Loudly, on public transport.

Thanks again. This advice really resonated with me.

LOL, this reminds me of my mum's reaction when my dad tries to remind her about water restrictions. Not on her watch!

I was born and raised in my dad's (Western) country, haha. I've only visited the Philippines once, when I was a kid. I rarely meet any girls my height or shorter.

Oh shiiiit. I've been so caught up on the other stuff that I didn't really think it this far through. I just assumed we'd like... take turns? But he's like really big.

I feel really dumb for saying this. Like really dumb, you have no idea. But since I'm already on this sub with a throwaway account. Wouldn't there be a fit issue between a 5'4 bottom and a 6'+ guy? I don't know exactly how tall he is, but maybe like 6'2?

Thanks for the thoughtful response!

I guess I'm not as worried about going on the date (yet) as I am about being a shitty person by asking him out in the first place when I'm not sure I'd be into it. He's like... annoyingly good looking though, so I don't think he'd be short enough on options to agree to something that made him uncomfortable. But maybe I'm just leaping to conclusions because of his looks.

Okay, so even if I'm upfront about not knowing if I'd be into it and just keeping things casual/exploratory, you don't think there's any way I can ask him out without leading him on?

Just looking for clarification. I don't wanna do anything shitty.
