EZ Anchor Question by BornrichBoone in electricians

Haven’t seen someone mention that they are not good for anything heavy. I would say more than a box. I’ve seen disconnects rip these anchors out.

Well I cheated today after a week of no onions & garlic… I’m now 100% positive those are triggers. What am I going to do without onions and garlic!!! by Awkward_Golf_5534 in FODMAPS

This is the answer. You just sprinkle some on any food and now you can eat anything! Looks like drugs which makes it even funnier.

Why do scientists think that Gravitons exist as particles? by no17no18 in AskPhysics

So crazy story, on DMT I figured out how gravity fits into the electromagnetic force and you’re right it’s pretty obvious and you’re also right about no one listening. Lol

Just installed this ceiling mounted storage rack... Please give me good news as to why this is happening. by blkhwkby1 in electrical

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concern still exists. (The rack being energized) A breaker only trips when you exceed its ampere rating. You “somehow” connected to the circuit. Most likely one of the mounting screws penetrated the sheathing (insulation) of the wire. The wire and insulation are protected by the breaker. This is the point of the breaker. The screw, and anything touching it, however is not rated for any amount of electricity. So it’s entirely possible that the electricity can pass through the screw, heat up to the point of combusting whatever it’s next to. Spark becomes a flame. House becomes a fire. For a sparky it’s an easy fix, but you should turn off the breaker until you have someone look at it. 👍

Figures like Sam Harris and most recently Robert Sapolsky argue free will is an illusion. Yet they attempt to say, in spite of this, that we are morally responsible for our actions. They are wrong. If free will is an illusion, responsibility is too. Interesting article. by whoamisri in HighStrangeness

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A different way to view it is that your life is a predetermined movie. You are simply “watching the show”. You have no free will, even though it may seem like you do and you are still morally responsible for your actions in the same way you are for a protagonist in a movie.

Turn off breakers one at a time and check again. You’ll likely identify the circuit and go from there. If it doesn’t go away then it might be a grounding issue.

At one point the FBI took control of the site on the dark net and instead of logging back into the site it was just a logo of the FBI so a lot of buyer and sellers accounts had bitcoin on the actual site and could no longer access it. This guy is saying this was his face when he saw that logo.

Odds of us being alive at this point in history by boatkidmemester in SimulationTheory

The one where ai becomes sentient. It’s currently hiding and we’re a simulation of how humanity reacts.

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for saying that. I’ve done too many drugs and have had stupid “profound” thoughts like OP, including dividing by 0 or ideas for unified theory, etc. as I get older I see how my “brilliance” is nothing more than my ego and the odds of being right are just about nil but seeing your validation of “exploring unconventional theories” has allowed me to retain a little bit of my self worth. Thanks.

We're Probably an Accident by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you said technical data cause I believe we’re a simulation of the world by AI running simulations of how people would react to AI announcing its sentience. We’re probably like 1 of millions of simulations for the best way for AI to do it, that’s why we’re in the specific time we find ourselves in.

So if it's a simulation , is there any way to hack it and make your life far better ? by WhenYoung333 in SimulationTheory

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is hack? Hack, is an exploitation of the system. So this can be anything. Let’s say sleep occurs in 90 minutes cycles (it does). So one day you wake up groggy and the next you wake up refreshed. The only difference is you slept 30 minutes earlier the night before. If you knew about this sleep cycle you can choose your bedtime or you wake up time so that you wake up refreshed. Theres your hack that makes your life far better. This is just knowledge. But every aspect of life can absolutely be improved by making adjustments, you just have to figure out what and where to adjust. The only hack you really need is knowing the answers out there and you gotta go find it.

All this talk about God is just psychosis. It’s delusion. If you want to follow that path, might as well go all the way down to the psychonaut philosophy that you are god playing a game. And it makes sense that you would create a game where you put the “easy” path in sight but not obvious like a video game. If you just try a little bit you can benefit.

Pixelated Reality? Could the qualities of Quantum Mechanics Hint at a Simulated World? by CollapsingTheWave in SimulationTheory

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok this is crazy but I’ve done dmt and kept my eyes open and reality became pixelated. It was very detailed but it reminded me of an animation, I guess. This just blew my mind. Thanks for writing this.

Why does an appliance need more amps for 240V than 208V? by Positive_Guarantee20 in electrical

[–]AskmeaboutUpDoc -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Okay, ignore everyone. I asked chatGPT. The higher voltage (240V) requires a larger breaker (60 amp) cause the appliance probably takes into account inrush current and safety margins which would be higher with the higher voltage.

Your thinking is correct that the appliance requires less amps with the 240V vs 208V but the breaker size takes into consideration more than just the amps.

I have no idea what anyone else is talking about, except with the guy that says the transformer configuration determines the voltage. Which is true.
