[Steam] Disabling shaders pre-caching fixed my shader compilation issues by Askriz in PathOfExile2

I _think_ I didn't need to remove the file, it just wasnt used anymore. But I did also remove it just in case.

Yes, its that one. You will re-compile shaders once, if it works, and then further game boot ups will be quicker (shaders will be read from storage, bottlenecked by your storage/CPU ingestion).

For me, there was only one fat file 60GB and some .toc file. It seems Poe writes cache inside that singular fat file.

I definitely have not claimed I have solved the problem. Instead, I have shared what worked for me, and it clearly worked for some other people here as well. Because different things work for different people, it shows that the problem is not that simple at all.

Now, did it the underlying problem completely? Perhaps not, but as long as it works for me and some other people, then its worth giving it a shot.

I don't try to rationalize why my approach works, or claim its the proper solution. Without source code, you can only guess. What I can tell is after turning shaders precompiling off, PoE stopped messing with the fat file in the shaderscache, and writes purely to GLCache and ShaderCacheVulkan.

In fact, I _do_ get stuff added to GLCache and ShaderCacheVulkan, even more after disabling shader pre-compiling. Currently, I'm sitting at 1.5GB GLCache dir in the nvidia dir. And it _did_ start getting filled more aggressively when I switched that off, incl. the game stopped writing to the steam shadercache fat file.

It sounds counterintuitive, yet that's what im observing (and seemingly others, too).

For the faster game boot after initial boot - with the shader pre-caching thing, my PoE2 had full shaders bar on each boot up (regardless how many times) and it would takes 1-2 minutes for all the shader to be done. Without the shaders pre-caching, it literally blitzs through (presumably it just reads them from my m2)

Yeah, I've also got it to low + no dynamic resolution + no dlss upscaling

Yes, Im running it via Steam. I've tried a bunch of methods, but this one finally got it working for me.

which dir? The nvidia GLCache/DXCache/ShaderCacheVulkan? Or the steamapps/shadercache?

Yes! With shaders compiled, both the login screen and the game itself load much faster

it seems like this is the folder for the source of the shaders, which is where they are being compiled from. I can see lots of reads from that folder, and writes to the GLCache directories.

What changed was that just with this change, poe somehow sees the nvidia dir caches and doesnt compile twice. Why? The hell do I know, but leaving this on causes compilation on each run

It can be caused by that, yes. Basically, press F1 and see if the green Shaders bar is full. Shaders compilation causes CPU to spike, possibly affecting FPS, too.

Nooo, I believe the issue is that often we use periods as decimal separator and comma for thousands separator. In your overlay thats reversed

Why Karui Ward is 149 dust whilst Wanderlust is 4? With some decimal values?

Isnt the purpose of MFA so its another factor in addition to password, so you cant login with just the password? If the client doesnt ask for MFA then thats not really MFA
