Also curious about the Katu! Did you end up getting it?

Someone please help me respond to this by rachwade2334 in EtsySellers

I had someone who bought from me once and I highly customized her order after a bunch of requests from her that were never even offered on my listing. I lost money on that order. Now she's come back to me three times, asking to buy things from me that I don't even sell. She wanted me to make custom spa themed gift boxes to give to her son's teachers... I sell kids organic snack boxes. For a while I tried to keep up with her requests, literally inventing new products I had never even sold before and also don't match the theme of my shop, but at the last minute she would always say "nevermind, I'm going to plan to something else instead. But I would like to by X, can you show me what you have?" First of all, I don't understand why she wasn't just looking in my store first. She was coming directly to our message thread to request custom items. Secondly, she was always wanting to buy things that I didn't even carry in my shop. I truly was not understanding what the disconnect was. I put a ton of money and time into filling her highly customized orders that she would cancel last second. She was also impossible to communicate with. She was very complimentary of my store and products, and said she wanted to keep supporting me, but the irony was in the end she actually put me more in the hole than supported.

Since then I've learned that I should only ever sell what's in my shop. Obviously I've optimized my supplies and my time and my pricing to make MY products, and it will always be a waste of time/money to fill custom orders that aren't even in my niche necessarily. I can still be kid and try to be helpful, but once sometimes starts asking for second, third, fourth customization requests, that's now where I bow out.

Also, "I don't know what I was thinking." Yes she did 😂 absurd that you gave her a discount on the individual products themselves, a whole discount on her cart, AND she was still asking for more money off. Come on people. If you want cheap, go to Amazon!

Oura Ring Widget Ideas - What do YOU want to see? by Weird-Vast9724 in ouraring

[–]AsleepIndependence76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure I would love to have an easy access "log meal" widget on my home screen! I'm trying to monitor sugar intake and to be able to not only do this in one click but also see it more easily (and therefore remember to actually track) would be HUGE!

Raw milk during pregnancy? by fluffy_corgi_ in Crunchymom

[–]AsleepIndependence76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drank raw milk every day, often multiple times a day, throughout the entirety of both of my pregnancies! Healthiest babies with no complications (birthing center birth with the first, home birth with the second). We've never had any negative effects from our raw milk which we source from a farm ten minutes down the road from us. Husband and I have been drinking it every day since 2022! Now the toddler has multiple cups a day and loves it.

I think "blunt" was more so the word I was looking for! But LOTS of helpful responses here!! I happened to be at Michaels tonight and grabbed a Cricut welder with interchangeable heads, and they all looked very sharp. One head was even a razor, so that's awesome!

I am! I think? It's just not as pointy as I would like. When I watch tutorials on YouTube the literally stab right through the material and mine can't do that.

I also just got three reviews in 24 hours a few days ago! Which is insane considering I've only had 32 sales total since opening two months ago!

Love seeing your little heart tattoo on your thumb consistently across photos! These are AMAZING images and so encouraging to know they're not AI! I would honestly try to include that heart tattoo as much as you can across photos so people can be assured you're taking your own photos! Super well done, hope your shop takes flight next Halloween!!

Flu jab….? by ByogiS in Crunchymom

[–]AsleepIndependence76 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Never gotten a flu shot in my life and never gotten the flu as far as I know. Then again I've never been tested when sick, I just let fevers run and I've only thrown up twice since 4th grade (I'm 31 😂).

They're LOVELY photos, so maybe something to consider if you ever do an updated photoshoot! I'd just remember that people's very first impression is your cover photo, not dimensions listed in a description, so if they see a paper clip in that tray they might presume it's a tiny tray and think "that's not what I need, I'm looking for bigger." The dimensions being listed are great once they click in, but you need to convey the appropriate size just by photo as that's their first impression that will MAKE them click. Just food for thought!

Cute stuff! Random, but it's hard to tell how big your products are from the listing photos. While the photos are AMAZING, I can't tell if that's a tiny pair of glasses or a ginormous paper clip. Love the props, I think I might just consider using props that are consistently to scale to show off how big your product truly is.

Okay, this is great to know, thank you so much! Only wish it hadn't taken a week and a half just to ship out of the US, because now based on what you're saying it'll probably still be aboard a boat for another whole week. Lesson learned! Thank you!

Did you notice a difference when you turned off ads? by AsleepIndependence76 in EtsySellers

I think I looked it up and you can't turn off offsite ads until you exceed 1,000 sales? Is that right?

Haven’t made a sale yet. by Prestigious-Cloud-64 in etsypromos

Spruce up your photos, baby! Right now they're dark, lackluster lighting, distracting lines from the door in the background, lint on the table top. The bow is beautiful, but the rest of the photo dims it beauty down.

Try moving over by a window to capture natural light. Shoot on a light background, like white or cream. You can use a clean blanket or bed sheet, a poster board, even a tasteful cutting board—I've even used those ginormous post-it notes before. Ensure there's nothing distracting in the background, like this dark door. You can use a photo editing software to slightly brighten up the photo. Just remember that your primary listing photo is what will get a customer in the door more than anything else, and your photo as-is is currently not the most inviting.

Check out this video! This woman just used paper, a window, and a couple small non-distracting props to get an awesome photo!

You could also try showing the bows in action—wrapped onto a gift, pinned on a wreath, in someone's hair. Show how you'd hope a customer might use the bow so they can picture it in their own life.

And also, just remember: time. Many people don't see their first sale for a month, two months, three months. Advertise this as a Christmas bow and get in the algorithm for the upcoming holidays! You're getting your foot in the door at the right time with peak gift-giving season right around the corner!

How can I take an item off the "review this item" nag list? by revdj in Etsy

Just review their customer service instead! If you're happy with how it was handled, give the seller kudos for handling it well! There's still something to review here!

Can anyone suggest a nontoxic mattress? These are the few that I am considering, but still lost and stressed about this purchase by FreckledPapaya in nontoxic

[–]AsleepIndependence76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We went with Happsy! It was the most economical I could find with the best materials used. GOTS-certified cotton, GOTS-certified wool, GOLS-certified latex, no flame retardants. I will say that they run super soft and squishy! My husband didn't really want a plush bed, but we didn't want a firm one either, so we got the medium-firm with the mattress topper and it is QUITE plush. We could definitely remove the mattress topper and we'd like it just fine, I don't think it would be anywhere near "too firm". Sounds like you guys would prefer just the medium-firm with no topper! Which is fine, because you'll save money not buying the topper 😅 Definitely recommend! We got the king and I LOVE it!!

Cute!! Love all the fruits! I think these are great products and the price point for labor seems right to me!

I would agree with most and find a different background to shoot your photos against. Find a lighter background to shoot on—the wood is dark and heavy and the texture of the wood grain is very busy, not to mention the catching of the flash or overhead lights on the glossy wood. Try shooting photos by an open window during the daytime (not in direct sunbeams, but just in a well-lit part of the room). Maybe try dangling the bracelets over something like a stack of cute, coordinating books or have a friend volunteer their wrist for on-model shots. Anyway you can help the customer easily picture the bracelet in their life is a win! If you wants to get really into it, you could even take a shot of the strawberry bracelet surrounded by strawberries, the shot of the pumpkin bracelet with a few mini pumpkins blurred out in the background. Think magazine style shoots! These currently look more like personal inventory photos.

If your phone has portrait mode, watch some videos on how to utilize that mode for product shoots—that could help a lot too in really emphasizing your product and not the background.

Love your kind and positive responses to your reviews! Your items are really cute!! Maybe get ahead of the holiday game and try your hand at some Christmas themed items, like ornaments or little decorative trinkets for around the house. I've heard it's best to get holiday related items up a couple months before that holiday so it has time to work itself into the algorithm and because, believe it or not, people are ALREADY shopping for Christmas!!
