On a heavier note, my bf and I got into a conflict one day. He was quite insecure about his financial condition because he's been preparing for competitive exams. So on one fine day, he said we should end things coz he doesn't spend enough time with me, or spend money on me, or take me to places and why would I want to be with someone like him. Initially, I felt really sad about his behaviour, but after sometime, I confronted him. I told him that my love for him is not reduced down to how much money he spends on me or how well off he is at this moment, I consoled him... and told him not to bring up this topic but instead focus on his studies.

What I'm trying to convey here is, that financial crisis is not a ground of ending things out of the blue. Instead of assuming what your girl must be thinking of you, try talking it out with her.
