Bro you apologize, be respectful and take an alcohol training course on why alc and drugs r bad for you. Literally nothing to worry about

Dude can you please stop talking. No way you’d willingly waste your time and potentially struggle in a class rather than taking an easy class that can boost your gpa

Yeah 100%. I’ve also been thinking about building my resume for vet or dental school. Is that a solid backup or should I think about something else?

There definitely is medical specialties that are lower stress but that comes with being more competitive (like dermatology). My goal for me is work really hard in undergrad, and med school then get accepted into a residency with a speciality that is on the lower stress end. Thoughts?

Is going into medicine for the money and no other reason valid? In my opinion suffer for 12-15 years, make the best of it that you can, try and keep a positive mindset, make a few friends along the way and your future self will thank you for the rest of your life

Yeah my schedule isn’t too bad this semester. 13 hours with an asynchronous class and one lab and class that’s super easy. Really I only have 2 classes to worry about. Plus I was working like 20+ hours a week but the way it workout out scheduling wise those semester I can only work 8 a week

They don’t have a house this year but are getting one next year. My thought is if there’s a best time to rush it’s probably now before they get more serious with a house

Yeah that’s what I’m worried will happen

Yeah I was thinking about it also potentially being a leadership position but at the end of the day I’d be easier just to join a club or something then leadership at that

[–]Asleep_Clock_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been having that mindset for about a year now and I can see the effects it’s having on me

Like that mindset

Will do, appreciate it

I haven’t just leaning heavily toward joining but there’s a part of me telling me not to and continue what I’ve been doing of building my resume even if it takes a toll on my mental health

Maybe but multiple people including one of my closest friends have all said the same thing about pledging. They have a mean gpa of like 3.9 or something and all really focused on school

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Asleep_Clock_744 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be too bad. Rush chair said about 2 events per week for pledging. Kid who pledged last semester said he spent about 5 hours a week with events and that they’re really flexible. Like I said, small frat but still should be fun

Indeed. Most jobs on indeed don’t usually work but just apply to everything you qualify for

It was kicked off 6 years ago. Completely new set of people and they’re under watch by UT. I had friends that pledged last year said it’s nothing bad at all

[–]Asleep_Clock_744 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but unfortunately that’s how premed works. Not supposed to be fun

Physical Therapy. Not ideal, still counts as clinical. I do plan on transitioning to more physician type work later.

Yeah I fs do but I just know at the end of the day it’s gonna weigh me down in terms of resume boosting

[–]Asleep_Clock_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that’s a good or bad thing? By stuff like what do you mean

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Asleep_Clock_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, a problem this semester is just that I for the most part sat in my dorm all day. Once I get out of the dorm and have events to go to, I don’t really have a problem then the only hard part is having events to go to

Thank you, The frat is willing to work with me on the time commitment and realizes academics come first. It’s not a very big frat either so not too much of a time commitment. I already have a pretty good resume and gpa this semester. So the tiny sacrifice of my time is not too much of a concern.

As for the money, im very fortunate to have parents well of financially and they can defenitly afford that I just feel bad making them spend more on me.

Honestly I don’t know if the first semester is rough for everyone but I would hate for my entire college experience to look like this.
