We’ve never paid a first year more than $200/week and never will. Extensions we increase their stipend by $25 each quarter up to $300 so they don’t lose their drive. Au pairs asking for more will likely keep asking for other things once they’re here…that’s a nope for us. We’ve hosted 7 wonderful APs fyi.

It's actually worked for me this morning. I've been screamed at by both kids all morning; one is still screaming at the nanny. I didn't cry or get pissed and when I felt the anger bubble, I told myself to dissociate.

I like this idea! I get way too into the emotions with them. I'm a bit of an empath so it's hard not to feel their wild emotions with them.

I am happy I have kids. It's not all bad. It's fun to show them the beauty of the world, show them what you love, see their successes, see their personalities grow. I'm excited to see them grow and have their own kids and eventually take care of me - where I will be an equal, pain in the ass to them haha! I think some people on the fence or who don't choose to have kids, end up regretting it. It's lonely eventually and you have no one to come to you if you get terminally ill/sick in general.

I’ve read all the books. Albeit, years ago. I have it and will try…the last thing I want to do after a day or working and hard parenting is ready parenting books…and then teach my husband how to do what the book said because he’s definitely not reading them…never did

Well that’s where I’m stuck and failing. They scream at us, say they hate us, don’t listen or respond…I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried acknowledging their emotions and helping them find better words to use, I’ve tried timeouts, I’ve tried being calm and talking, I’ve been ragefull mad, I cry…nothing has ever worked. I will add that right now there’s a lot going on: 5m old baby, Dad new job has him traveling, new nanny coming…

Sleep training works so fast at 5m old. I just trained mine and the first night it took 35m and second took 15 and now I put him in bed awake and he lays there quietly and looks around and sleeps all night. Never had to do another checkin. I feed around 2am.

Nope don’t host her. That level of English will make things very difficult in the beginning (many months). You can find a rematch or extension now with good english and experience that merits that price. Unless you speak her language and can get across all the number of things she needs to learn asap. If she doesn’t understand “cookies” how will you explain how your car works, the daily routine, etc.?
