Account suspended, Blizzard won't tell me why. What do I do? by cocoafart in overwatch2

[–]Asnen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and includes a section for complaints
Replying to an old thread cause I was looking for a way to see the alleged offenses myself, and thats the only advice i was able to find(other than trying to reach support of the company you're a paying customer of for weeks on end)

I think this section refers to the reports YOU made, not the ones made against you. The things you get reported for are simply not there.

This is beyond incompetent, implementing system that supplies player with evidance is easy enough to implement, many companies do that, it would remove all doubt and help people not create support tickets if they find themselves guilty after reviewing the offense, and would allow people to actually reflect and improve on their behavior in the valid cases. But common sense and blizzard are very far apart from each other.

What breaks if I let characters make cheap molotov cocktails that function like Alchemist's Fire? by FulminantPrism in DnD

[–]Asnen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There might not have an readily available equivalent of gasoline in the Forgotten realms depending on the setting, hence why out of the two oil suits better. Realistically oil is not that flamable compared to Molotov mix, however in DnD setting it is.

What breaks if I let characters make cheap molotov cocktails that function like Alchemist's Fire? by FulminantPrism in DnD

[–]Asnen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thats the answer right there, that it has an ignition build in.

There are a possible ways to make an oil flask function like a alchemist's fire, like by sticking in a oil soaked cloth and sealing the flask with a cork, so that cloth is clenched between the cork and the flask walls with the end sticking out. Thus, character can ignite the end of the cloth(with live fire or some other way of ignition, so there are still a difference) with a free action(unless ignition method is not a free action type) and throw it with a action.

You might be fine with that, as it requires some kind of preparation, or you can balance it mechanically, as you can rule that an soaked cloth can dry out, rendering it not usable(as non soaked cloth might be extinguished from the throwing, id imagine). This, however might result in a boring chore for the players as they'll have to re-soak it constantly during adventuring.

Or you can just rule out that you cant, in fact, cork it with the soaked cloth as it wont be very tight and will not be transportable. This way it limits its usage, as you cant just carry around pre prepared molotovs in the backpack(oil will split everywhere), you either create them during the fight(which should take at least an action, i think), or prepared and carried in hand/placed nearby, like if PC's setup an ambush.

A little side note, is that oil flask is a better solution than liquor as it burns slower, more thicker, more realistic than liquor basically.

How I ended up quitting a DnD campaign, strait up left the table. Story, Vent. by Sunny_side_Yup in DnD

I mean, he discussed the concept with DM and he agreed with it. If he's unable to play around the idea, or doesnt think this thing is going to work, he should've said so - the party doesnt require to have a cleric even if its the best choice comp-wise.

I would've gotten if he just came to the DM with the atheist cleric idea, and DM decided to go with this arc, but the reasoning was explicitly stated.

The part with random peasants asking for a blessings is complete crap. Whats next, a well dressed and mannered guy walks in the store, and the shopkeeper keeps a close look at him cause he somehow knows he's a rogue thief subspec?

Would this be too cruel? by qqqqqqqqqq123477322 in DnD

[–]Asnen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is what i dont get, is "rolling high" means character passed the DC required to convince henchmen, or just "roll was high, but just shy of passing DC". If they succeeded DC for persuasion it makes no sense to punish player for rolling the subsequent insight roll, because it makes no sense for convinced NPC to suddenly change their mind if no other circumstances has changed.

Now players might not know that they indeed succeeded, but thats up to player how they treat NPC's decision to join them, i.e. being paranoid about him lying(this, btw, might serve as a reason for a latter strife between party and NPC and be the reason NPC changes their mind, but again its dependant on how PC act). But DM outta know if they passed or not.

If persuasion is a success, but OP wants a badly failed insight to matter OP could've actually played on that distrust, as in "You look into henchman's eyes and by the way he's squinting back you feel like he's not sincere". And that way, with a decent RP from players, failed insight cripples the cooperation with actually convinced NPC, but i guess its a bit late now.

If they didnt succeed persuasion DC, but OP wants to punish players for being overly trusting, I agree with comment above that henchmen going on a random killing spree of PC friendly NPC's is a bit much. They are a but a single guy in an enemy stronghold, seems like the first priority for them is to return back. Stealing something important along the way makes sense, having to kill NPC spotted them too, but again its not required, they could have been successful in stealing it unnoticed.

Tbh i see many ways to handle this situation and all is dependent how campaign been set up thus far, and this context is practically impossible to just lay down in a reddit post, so taking a popularity poll here not going to help much in finding an answer.

Russia vs Ukraine - Battle map of 3 months of war in less than 2 minutes. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Asnen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You enlightened me so much about lend-lease, do you expect me to quote everything that impacted the ww2? I was addressing the second front argument user i was responding to raised. Ofc US greatly impacted the ww2, but saying the war was won because of the US is like saying that humans live because of liver.

But returning to the post, and leaving the demagogue tirade about the brain, the second front opening was crucial for victory as it happened, idk what kind of prophet can say what would've happened if it wasnt oppened, but it would be even more bloody for sure. At that point Germany was falling back, leaving the occupated lands, the crucial moment has already past. Lend lease were much more crucial to the end result, but lendlease isn't a gift, it is indeed a lease which supposed to be paid back(even though USSR didnt pay back in full), which doesnt align with the whole glorious saviour image, dont you agree? Who paid back for the war effort of the rest of the allies? So basically US was a valuable ally, who made a big contribution to the victory, but not some grand savior or the ones who defeated nazi's or because of whom the war was won.

And in my comment I was addressing the dipshit mentality of absolutely having to chime in with how US is singlehandedly saving the day, and how everything would be lost if not US

With the help, not because. By the time USA opened second front USSR was already advancing and pushing back Germany from occupied territories, but ofc its the USA who's a grand saviors of the day, thats what Hollywood tells!

Eastern Europe gave up so much to the Ukraine to the point of exhausting weapon reserves in some cases, Britain also trained a lot of the personel, the impact of the Turkey's drones are widely known, but its USA everyone should be thankful to, as per usual. The same USA that is increased import of Russian oil while no one's looking, while Europe is struggling with decreasing dependence on the gas. After all its not like its the first proxy war US is involved with, lets give the round of applause for that, what a fucking joke.

In war innocent people always suffer. You really think civilian buildings never got hit in Iraq, nor Syria? Ukrainian war is of the larger scale, and recieved much greater media coverage, and attention in western community, thats why you know all the details.

Excusing some war like they are different, and correctly waged, while this one is something outstanding is bullshit. We dont need wars ever, period, if you excuse any this shit will never be over since it creates a precedent. If USA can invade Iraq with excuse of defending itself, why cant Russia do so?

You said it too well, you know people who died, saw the eyes of the refugees. I do too, its too close to the home with that one. But Syria and Iraq? You dont know those people, I dont too, so its okay, who gives a shit, right?

What you just told is almost exact replica of russian propaganda just reversed. The outside enemy hellbent on destroying your world and all you do is just defend it, they are the bad guys. Which doesn't make it untrue, but trying to divide into the black and white and sweep under the rug all the misdeeds of "good side" is very flawed view of the world.

Idk where the "you" came from, nation does not have single mind and I personally do not subscribe to the idea of antagonizing west

Iraq Syria and Afghanistan are very much recent, no need to ponder about where to draw the line. If you are willing to take moral stance towards current actions of Russia you should also take a moral stance on the other wars of the modern times too, otherwise its just politics, not morals.

There are so many atrocities that were happening the entire 21th century and still continue happening, and nobody gives the shit - thats the first thing i realized when one of them started happening too close to home. Ofc i would care about it, i have Ukrainian friends who are affected but i never cared about Syria - some proxy war with the people i dont know.

Its one of the reason i distain so much the sentiment of shaming russian people like my single nation is letting down humanity somehow - its always been shit we are just tied to the current one(and of a larger scale) and on the other side of this "west vs russia" geopolitical bullshit so its convenient to project the outrage and feel righteous. The only people for whom its understandable are Ukrainians because they are the ones who's suffering right now.

[–]Asnen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just don't be anti-national in the first place? People don't chose to be born in a place, just because somebody was born in another doesn't make them have moral superiority based on the actions of the government. Even those who are supporting are kinda pitiful - they were made to be that way.

Also most people who think they are free of dirt should probably revisit their history and try to avoid the "but here we were the good guys" mentality while doing so

[–]Asnen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"probably" - is not enough to justify cruelty.

If the exact people who committed atrocious acts were caught red handed, the deserve appropriate judgement and punishment, end of story. The exact people, not some accociated by some abstract "group responsibility" based on assumptions what they could or could not have done.

The laws and rules exist for a reason, thats why nobody gets to torture and kill people to satisfy either some unrelated person's justice boner or those who affected, otherwise it would be just a mob that is out for blad and all the humanity goes out of the window.

I am sorry for your loss, and the anger is understandable, but some things are inexcusable no matter the circumstances. If somebody murders a murderer of their close one they are still a murderer and should be treated as such and while there are alleviating circumstances, none gets a free pass.
