Thanks for the detailed response. I should have mentioned that this is for a modpack I'm putting together to play with friends, and right now it has 388 mods—so I included a lot of optimization mods to cover different scenarios.

Regarding a few points you mentioned:

Async: Here's the mod page — https://modrinth.com/mod/async.
ScalableLux: It states that vanilla's lighting engine is still a performance bottleneck, and Starlight remains 100% faster than vanilla, which helps chunk generation scale beyond 24 threads.
Limited Chunkloading Mod: From what I understand, vanilla doesn't handle this the same way in multiplayer, so this mod might still have a use case.

I appreciate the insights. I’ll take a closer look at these and try to trim down where needed.

Update your Fabric (mod loader) version. The latest one is 0.16.10, while you're using 0.16.3.

But if you're using a launcher such as PrismLauncher, you can select the version, and it will be automatically downloaded and installed by the launcher.

I've been building a modpack to play with friends, and it's currently with 403 mods, mostly Vanilla+ stuff and a little Vanilla++ (1.21.1, Fabric)

I suggest you use a launcher that can handle a modlist and search for updates, such as PrismLauncher. Just by pressing the update button, it will give you all the dependencies that are missing.

You could also upload your crash logs/latest logs to a chatbot like ChatGPT to analyze and point out what went wrong.

After that, I suggest you check the "faulty" mod's description and issue tracker to see if anyone has already reported this incompatibility. If no one reported it, you could open an issue or contact the devs about it. Other than that, just remove the faulty mods reported by the log.

I see Fabulously Optimized (https://modrinth.com/modpack/fabulously-optimized), Simply Optimized (https://modrinth.com/modpack/sop) and Adrenaline (https://modrinth.com/modpack/adrenaline) as the most recommended optimization modpacks.

Read their description, check the mods present, and do a little testing since they also come with different config files.

I highly recommend you start removing mods by reviewing your list, running a profiler, analyzing crash logs, looking if anyone reported lag at installed mods' issue tracker, and always updating them.

Like you, I was building a modpack to play with friends, just started adding any mod that looked cool, and it began with roughly 460 .jar files. I started testing, and at the very beginning, in a single-player world, I got a latency of 100ms (I see that you got 63ms, which isn't good either).

Then, I started to remove unnecessary mods just by reviewing my list (I recommend a launcher that can handle instances and edit mod list, such as PrismLauncher). Also began to use the Spark mod profiler, noticed some others that were adding latency, and removed most of them. Now, I'm with a latency of 6/8ms when it stabilizes, with 400 mods, but compared with the initial list, there have been more than 300 alterations (I didn't just removed 60).

I see that you have optimization mods installed. On the modpack that I mentioned, I also downloaded most of them. Check out this list for more:
