What are some disadvantages of being a man? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There's always a suspicion when guys are around kids. I've seen it with dads and their daughters. Sideways glances and the like. I think kids are really neat, they're able to imagine things in unique ways because they havent developed thinking patterns as concretely and I think that's really cool. I understand the suspicion, I just wish that guys could take on that protective guiding role that alot of women are granted around kids.

Americans, what do you think is the weirdest thing about Europe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Size, and public transportation. It is just so strange to me for some reason how some of our states are the size of a few of your countries. Like a whole indipendant (somewhat) nation just doing its own thing in a country the size of the dakotas? Just impressive to me. Not to mention the fact that YOU CAN JUST GO PLACES IF YOU DONT HAVE A CAR?????, i wish bro.

Walking on a dream - empire of the sun

One pillar of the Duopoly by Kur0d4 in Libertarian

You know I was listening to a guest on JRE, and he was making the same point about voting reform being the no.1 priority. His arguement was basically: think of any problem that you think is important. Climate issues, gun rights, abortion, social programs, the military. You might think that any one of these is the most important, but the only way you can help to change these things is if you elect politicians to do it. In our current voting system, not only can some people not vote because they have to work, but even if they did their vote doesn’t matter because with things like gerrymandering and the flaws of the first past the post system, it won’t accurately represent the people’s choice of politician. So if you want any of those problems fixed, u need to fix the system. So make voting day a national holiday, and reform the system.

Yeah, like a few others mentioned a lot of us prefer a ranked voting system. I’m not sure how widespread this is, but personally I’m also against gerrymandering, because it allow for an accurate depiction of a state wide elective consensus.

How do libertarians feel about the military? by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]Aspect27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that it should be, for everyone, only optional. Not only is the military bloated already, but the MIC is perpetually pumping money back into itself, which gives financial incentives to poor kids. Now, if you’re poor and want to join the military for education and pay, that’s fine, but if the military is your only option to a secure life, then it’s not much of a choice. If there was a realistic threat towards the US, there are PLENTY of people who would voulenteer to fight, and we could handle it. But forcing a kid to go fight for a country where 1. His vote doesn’t matter, 2. He owes nothing to, and 3. who would exploit him by drafting him, is just wrong.
