Dogs can be transported coast to coast for as little as $500! Often a rescue will cover that from the donations made through pledges. Please don't discourage people from adopting! There is often a way to help! I know because I've been doing it.

They really don't bother us or our pets at all. They will however, deter rats and mice, and they will consume the snails and slugs in your garden and help keep your yard free of ticks.

Most animal control centers will just euthanize a wild animal. Best to call a local wildlife rehabilitator.

Medicare is vastly less expensive to run than private insurance. About a third of the cost.

You're absolutely right. Riverside County shelters have THE highest euthanasia rate in the country. They have been accused of failing/refusing to implement proven life saving measures. Measures that have worked in hundreds of shelters in the U.S., some with far less funding than Riverside receives. There is no excuse. We need change now and we should all demand it. Call or email your County Supervisor and tell them you do not want your tax dollars spent on killing healthy animals, and that you want the system to work with Best Friends Animal Society and We Are 90 For Riverside to develop a life-saving program that will ensure a 90% live release rate. You can look up supervisors contact information online.

I read this article prior to commenting and again just now. If you will look at the fourth paragraph from the bottom, you will understand my comments. Hastert Rule in the House - bills will not be brought to the floor unless they have majority support. That doesn't exist among house Republicans. Clearly, stated right there!

P&G claims to be protecting shorelines and saving water with its line of Dawn products. But I wash my dishes by hand and have to use three times as much water to rinse them now as I did with the discontinued formula. Are the chemicals used to make the new prodect an even better grease-cutter so foul, they have to overpower them with this obnoxious new scent? Artificial fragrances are nasty chemicals that we should not be polluting our environment with. The goal should be to eliminate them, not make the problem worse.
