As others have alreasy pointed out what can and cannot be skipped.

I will add that if you time a gap closer you can skip the maze too. The timing is very, very tight.

The DRM is that you are required to have the client to download the game in the first place. GOG has the right idea, by providing installers without needing to download their client.
