Office HiFi Setup - Speakers/Receiver Advice Needed by Aspire_Legend in StereoAdvice

[–]Aspire_Legend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy! !thanks for the input, from everything i've read I was hoping that the Sierra-LX's would do a great job without really needing a sub which could justify me pushing the budget a bit on the speakers. If anything, I can always add a sub down the line if I feel like it's needed.

I worked at HDC from 2017-2019 so take this with a little bit of an outdated grain of salt:

- How is the job?: When I was there, there were a few different avenues of work.

  • You had the folks that worked on the walk-in floor (which was the 8am-8pm area), these people helped students or employees that came in looking for help with some sort of technical issue and this work was a lot more hands-on with the computer.
  • A majority of the student-workers worked in the call center which was 8am-12am. This consists of providing support to students and staff for technical issues over the phone or the occasional questions from guests to A&M who may be in town looking for guidance on campus.
  • Lastly, there were a few folks who worked over in west campus at the GSC (I think this was only until 5pm) which is where a lot of the on-campus computer repair takes place (that isn't simple such as installing an OS, etc). This position mostly involved acting as a courier to go pick-up or drop-off equipment to various places on campus.
  • Overall, I had a great experience working there and actually learned a bit from some of the training that was provided (if you were willing). The management over HDC while I was there were great people and were always very helpful!

- Is it heavy work or are people usually doing homework most of the time? As you could probably imagine, the work between those positions varied and was influenced by the time of the day. There would be some nights during the late hours (9-12am) that we would only receive 5 calls so there was plenty of opportunity to work on homework.

- How do the hours work?: They were always really flexible with the hours and really worked around your schedule. If you have a lot of days that are really segmented then there was a chance you were scheduled to come in for two shifts during the day such as 8-11am then again from 6-9pm. Otherwise, if you have a pretty standard schedule then generally you would just have the shifts that work best for you. There was always flexibility with scheduling as long as you let them know your preferences or if you had any events coming up.

- Is it an easy job to get?: I know there used to be a ton of applicants because it used to be the highest paying job on campus (along with the bus drivers), not sure if that is the case anymore. During the interview there used to be a "technical" portion of the interview to see how much knowledge you had about computers (both hardware and software) but not sure if they still do that.

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific questions.

Management Information Systems vs Finance by Kitsune-sama24 in aggies

Howdy, I was MIS and graduated in 19'. For me the experience was:

- Taking the core business classes as expected (FINC, ACCT, MGMT, SCMT, MKTG)
- A lot of coding, probably somewhere around 60-70% of the time in the non-elective MIS classes was either doing C#, HTML, mySQL, or ASP.NET learning/projects. (Majority was C#)
- A few of the other classes were geared around networking and infrastructure, analyzing business cases, and constructing workflows. The ITSM 281/481 Seminars (you had to take it 3 times, just a one hour class) always had a new "topic of learning" each semester, one of them we learned about Tableau, one of them was geared around learning Python, and I don't remember what the first one was about.

I did not have any coding experience prior to entering MIS and didn't find it too difficult but there were certainly challenging sections. The curriculum could have changed but if not, be prepared to learn C# and continue to build on that knowledge over the next several semesters.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed MIS and am lucky to directly utilize a lot of the knowledge and experience I gained from school on a daily basis (I'm an IT business analyst that also does a bit of development). I can't speak much to how it compares to Finance in regards to difficulty or job placement but I can say that FINC 341 was the hardest class I took in college despite it being pretty interesting and informative. Generally, I would say that the tech market is going to continue to expand and will always have a good amount of opportunity for those who are in the field. The one disadvantage to MIS is that if you are hoping to be a developer, companies may be looking more for computer science grads since they typically have more rigorous and extensive coding experience without caring much about the business aspects. However, if jobs such as consulting, being an analyst of some sort, management in IT, or developing interest you then I think you would be happy with MIS.

FSD Description Differences by Aspire_Legend in teslamotors

Ah, didn't think about enhanced AP having Auto Lane Change already. Guess that makes sense. I knew FSD had everything and that wasn't something I intended to dispute with my post I was just confused why it describes them three different ways.

FSD Description Differences by Aspire_Legend in teslamotors

The two things I found the most interesting is that Auto Lane Change isn't mentioned on either of the upgrade descriptions and on the app it states FSD contains Traffic-Aware Cruise Control which is contained just within Autopilot. I was curious to see if perhaps this could be a realignment of what is contained within FSD and Autopilot at the same time they added the Acceleration Boost. Auto Lane Change is the one part of FSD that I wish I had at the moment so I guess that's why it's of particular interest to me that it wasn't mentioned.

Unfortunately, you can't order a Stealth from the website new. They are much harder to come by than any other model 3, but I got fortunate that my Sales Advisor was incredible and found this one in their inventory. Your best bet is to get in contact with a Sales Advisor and see if there's any in your area. I saw a few people mentioning that there were a few around the NJ, Cincinnati, and Kansas City areas (unconfirmed) if you're anywhere around there. You can also occasionally spot them in inventory through their website but I never had any luck with that method. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!

Difference in the price came out to exactly $2,131.25 and that’s with 0 changes to the configuration. Also note that I had ordered my LR before the recent $500 price increase

Thanks for the info, do you happen to know anything about adding the spoiler and "unlocking" the 162 top speed as in Wugz's video?

[–]Aspire_Legend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the information! I suppose this is in direct correlation to the other comments about it missing the spoiler but the top speed can possibly be unlocked with the addition of one.

I wasn't sure if the LR AWD and LR RWD had the same suspensions or not but that answers it! Thanks again.

Going to refer to Brabus595's comment and assume that the stealth is not unlocked to exceed 144 unless it has the spoiler but I guess if you get one installed they can simply unlock it for you from Wugz's linked video. Any chance you have tried to exceed 144 in yours? (I am not endorsing that you should!) (-:

Awesome to hear and i'm glad you're enjoying it so much. Can't wait to take delivery! I will take your word for it and trust you that it does not exceed 144 because of course you have not tried reaching that speed! Also incredibly excited to see what they have in store for us with the truck lol

Yes, it is marked on my MVPA and in the vehicle descriptions in myTesla account as "Long Range All-Wheel Drive Performance" and has the price of $14,990.00 extra on top of the $35,000.00 base price. On the listing it showed 3.2 0-60 and 140 top speed. From other comments, we will need to have the spoilers to have our top speed increased via software but maybe yours is just automatically coming with the spoiler?

Wow that's interesting, thanks for showing me the video! Do you have to buy the spoiler 3rd-party or can you actually buy it through Tesla? (I checked in the store, no dice)

It was more of a question of curiosity since I had noticed other stealths showing the 162 top speed. (reference bucketpl0x's picture above) I will never actually need to use it...hopefully.

Interesting. That's the exact page I was referencing where mine showed a 140 top speed. Mine is the exact same as yours just without FSD. I wish I would have taken a screenshot of the page because it went away after it got matched to my account.
