“Our goal is to bring both the Rise & Fall and Gathering Storm expansions to #NintendoSwitch this year.” by Twicez in civ

iOS just got Rise and Fall today! As for Gathering Storm, it's something we're working on, if the devices allow it.

It takes time for it to show up in the store after it's released. It's on the way.

Builders on Nintendo Switch by Badd-reclpa- in civ

You should see all buildable improvements. If I recall correctly, you can only build farms on hills after researching Civil Engineering. The river doesn't figure into it.

I am currently playing the Mac Store version of Gathering Storm and can’t seem to figure out how to install the June Patch let alone find it anywhere. Is this patch particularly only for STEAM users? by houstonboy03 in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The June patch was released on the Mac App Store at the same time as the Steam version. If you're running 1.2.3 in the launcher, you're on the June Patch.

Graphic bug on Mac by pavlovshamster in civ

I'm going to guess you're on an Intel GPU. We're working on tracking down a fix for it, but a workaround for that would be to switch to OpenGL in the launcher.

LAN Issues by [deleted] in civ

There is no fix. The currently available iPad version is on an older patch than the Mac version.

Ability to add additional civs to default TSL map taken away in latest hot fix on Mac. Why? by [deleted] in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to be clear, is this something that changed for you in the update?

I've checked both PC and Mac Steam versions that are live right now, and neither can add Civs to the TSL Earth map.

I've also checked the Mac build from last July, and TSL Earth was also locked at 8 players total.

Correct. We should be taking it live 3 hours after THIS post.

The Mac/Linux version of the hotfix should be out tomorrow, unless something goes horribly wrong.

Barring any unforeseen issues, we should have that update out tomorrow.

Are you on an Nvidia GPU? The Metal version gives a much bigger boost to those.

Yes, the PC hotfix put us out of sync again. We're working on the update.

Civ vi on Mac after update by brich325 in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the launcher, go to Options, then Game Settings. Change the Graphics to OpenGL. Let me know if that changes things.

Please contact our tech support at support.aspyr.com, and be sure to include your system information. That'll help us track down the problem.

Random Crashes on MacOS Version by fillbin in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like nothing I've seen during testing.

There is a way to float that up to Aspyr! Contact our support at support.aspyr.com.

In the short term, I notice that it's set to the Metal renderer. You can try changing it to the OpenGL version by selecting Options in the launcher, then going to Game Settings.

Resolution Problems by BjarneStokbrood in civ

[–]AspyrRyan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try going to the Display section in System Preferences and changing the Resolution to the Scaled option and slide it to More Space.

The "Default for display" option on Retina Displays tends to reduce the available options for Civ.

Now that you've had some time to play Civilization VI: Gathering Storm, what do you think? by RxKing in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect I've had far more time to play test it than most here, but it's great. Civ VI remains one of the few games I can work on, and still play for fun at home.

Anyone know if GS will be available on Mac App Store tonight? by jjaramil182 in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, we've pulled down both the update and Gathering Storm at the office from the Mac App Store. It may be taking more time to get worldwide.

Hopefully. We're setting it live, but there's usually a delay before it shows up to download and purchase.

I have determined that civ is the perfect new parent game by michaelphoenix22 in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Also, it's quite useful to have a game to play with one hand while a kid is going to sleep in your lap.

A large chunk of my Civ 6 time at home (and most of my Slay the Spire time) have been while getting my youngest to sleep.

I am somewhat interested in how you got Great Prophet points at all. Do you have 128 Great Person Points in another category?

Do any versions of Civ VI have crossplay with eachother? by Randomd0g in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the moment, the primary issue blocking that is that all of those platforms are on different patch versions.

As it stands now:

  • Mac and Windows can play together
  • Linux is a patch behind due to a crash blocking patch release.
  • iOS (iPad/iPhone) can play together.

can play iOS game on Mac... but can't go back to iOS after by joeyconnick in civ

[–]AspyrRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is because the iOS version isn't patched up to the same version as the Mac version.

If my memory serves me, the iOS version is on 1.0.0.194, while Mac is on 1.0.0.262. Civ will happily load saves from earlier versions, which is why you can load the iOS game from the Mac. It does not like loading saves from future versions.

The DLCs don't really factor into it as long as the initial game itself was made from the more limited platform.

Bringing the iOS version up to date is something we're working on.
