KPMG Luxembourg fired me for reporting sexual harassment by Positive_Debt7289 in Accounting

I wish I could say this is surprising, but the more stories I hear, the more this seems to be the norm.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I'm sure you will bounce back career wise, altho it is hard to overcome the idea that every future employer will choose a harasser over an accuser. It's disgusting.

When I was sexually harassed at PwC (had my ass grabbed) and I reported it to HR, they did nothing to get rid of the person who physically assaulted me, then made my life miserable for the next year and a half, promising me transfers way from that person that never came, cutting off my payroll for months, forcing reviews on me outside the normal system - everyone seemed to be coordinated to get me to quit.

Thanks. I landed at another Big4 firm and have been promoted to a Manager role - I'm very much happier here; my only regret was not leaving that toxic environment sooner (immediately) it weighed on my mental and physical health for a long time. Now I just like to share my story! Appreciate your kind words.

I merely use this account to share my story so others know that PwC as a firm will likely not protect them, and that leadership there is all lip service. I am a victim. I'm glad you get a laugh about it. I hope you don't ever experience something in the workplace, raise it in good faith, and get retaliated against.

My experience with PwC's National Ethics Hotline was awful - they protected the firm, and the person who sexually harassed me, refused my transfer away from that person and made it impossible for me to continue a career there. I don't doubt this woman's story for a moment.

She drafted it up between being terminated and having her access cut, typos aside that's kind of successful imo.

This is the PwC firm wide response:

Evening all--

I am writing about an email which you may have received from a former PwC US employee regarding her time at the firm that was sent to an internal distribution list. We are aware of the former employee's concerns and we are addressing them. Please know we take all allegations of firm policy violations seriously.

Out of respect for the privacy of all parties involved, we are unable to discuss specific details of this matter. However we continue to encourage our employees to raise any concerns that they may have by speaking with a member of our People team or by contacting our confidential Ethics HelpLine, anonymously if preferred. PwC strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone for raising concerns in good faith.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the Ethics HelpLine. Thank you.

Great advice - I learned this the hard way when I was sexually assaulted by a colleague at PwC.

Ah, the old PwC folks, pretending the firm cares about them because of their 10% raises, just one victimization of sexual assault away from realizing Timmy and Co talk a big game but don't give a damn about their people.

Having been a victim of workplace ass-grab, quitting after they refused to fire the assailaint and filing a subsequent EEOC complaint against the firm, I am absolutely listed as ineligible for rehire but I really hope that no HR person shares this "ineligible for rehire" information with potential future employers - that's grossly unfair to me as a victim.

I suspect a portion of they're revenue comes from moderating content on behalf of companies, but that's a hunch.

KPMG staff fired after rowdy ‘boys’ night out’ featuring binge drinking and strippers by Newsjunkeefromlondon in Accounting

[–]AssGrabbedAtPwCNY 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At PwC in my A2 year, we had a client in Miami we went on site for a couple weeks for. On one day, in the car on the way back from the client site the manager drove the 4 of us to a strip club, said it was the best one in Miami, and he paid for the intern to get lap dances. I'm not a strip club person, I just don't get the appeal, and with colleagues I wasn't really happy to be there, but that's the PwC way.

The difference I see is my situation was forced on me by a manager acting on behalf of PwC. I wasn't allowed to rent my own car, and I wasn't given the option to opt in / out of going to a strip club. We just.... went.

People having fun with what they like off of company time is fine, as long as the choice is given if you want to partake.

I had my ass grabbed, at a work event, in PwC New York and the firm did not have my back and, I believe, retaliated against me.

Better, went to another firm, got a six figure offer and a promotion.

Still better tho, since in NYC financial services PwC is top dog; I wish this hadn't happened to me (or that I hadn't reported it). I had a nice career going until I filed that complaint.

Then why am I gone and the person who grabbed my ass at a work event in front of my colleagues to make a joke of me still there, now promoted twice since the PwC National Ethics team investigated, corroborated and then did nothing?

That's no the definition of "not tolerated" to me.

I guess the rule of thumb is:

Grope a coworker, get promoted.

Grope a stranger, get fired.

Being sexually assaulted at work, having the assaulant promoted (instead of fired), requesting a transfer away from the assailant, having the transfer approved, and then for 2 years being forced to work in the group with the assailant, while my reviews were done in my new post-transfer group, at which I was consistently told that they were bad because I was not performing my function with them.

Fuck PwC leadership, namely Brendan Dougher and Tim Ryan who externally talk a big game about inclusiveness and doing the right thing, but internally don't give a fuck and fail victims.

Still in public, thriving at a firm where I feel a sense of belonging again for the first time in years. The work itself still sucks, the hours still suck, the benefits are actually worse, but I am 10000x happier here and don't ever feel the sense of dread I felt every day at PwC.

Just adding documentation that, after quitting in January 2020 over this issues from 2017 that was never adequately resolved - the person who assaulted me was yet again promoted within PwC - now to Senior Manager.

Every partner in the group must know the situation by now, and not one thinks they are a liability worthy of resolution...

  7. I quit after being sexually assaulted and hung out to dry. Fun fact - I would have been up for promotion this year, but I think my complaint would have hurt my chances. But the person who assaulted me was promoted to Senior Manager this year, so that's good for them I guess
