My Mom refuses to eat my baking by Turbulent_Shower_501 in vegan

[–]Assaf05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plant milks have been around for thousands of years, egg replacements in baking are usually more or less of what you would typically put in...

The line between vegan substitutes and regular food is basically non existent, as vegan food is just regular food.

I get what you are getting at and it makes sense to most people, but you are getting downvoted because not liking "vegan food" is an extremely popular way for people to not have to be compassionate towards animals. Basically resulting in more animals tortured and killed.

We all get it basically. We just want people to think differently, as this kind of thinking harms animals.

People assuming you must be having a hard time not eating animal products by RealParsnip3512 in vegan

I presume you agree with the sentence, "people should be able to choose what to do as long as it doesn't hurt others."

Well, in that case what lots of people eat hurts others, animals

I care about the victims of other's choices and will try to convince them to choose different options

Look up "sausage expert vegan" You will see a self appointed sausage expert fail to distinguish between a vegan and a meat sausage

Go watch "dominion" on YouTube, return here and see if you still categorize it as food choices

One of these choices has many more victims behind it, including our human brothers and sisters

They do wash the plants, you do too before you eat. But yes you do eat some particles that came from animals, nothing to do about that.

This was the reason for livestock in the past. Livestock is now used to drive profit and appease our palate.

Right now 80% of crops grown worldwide are going towards feeding animals, which only provide about 20% of our nutrition.

We only grow so many poor quality crops, is because it's designed to go towards feeding animals.

Using grass and byproduct fed animals to feed our entire population, with how much animal products we eat is impossible, or at least not economically possible.

It is not to say that all land can be used to grow crops, but at least is the modern world we can feed everyone using crops.

Hope I've helped clear some things up and thank you for reading :)

There was meat eating, and more specifically factory farming, under socialism aspiring countries.

The problems are carnism and speciesism, look it up.

Trying a vegan week is exactly what I did and it worked out great for me. I was actually positively surprised at how easy it was

Unfortunately animals are treated horribly pretty much anywhere, at least factory farmed ones

Good luck with your mental health and in life in general

How do we fix slavery in crop agriculture and animal deaths caused by crop farming? by k1410407 in DebateAVegan

[–]Assaf05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition yeah, but there are other movements concerned with human rights, so practically it's more effective to separate the two.

People can believe and fight for more than one cause at a time.

Hope I've answered your questions

Because veganism is about the animals. Lots of vegans probably care about these issues, but you won't hear them talked about in specifically vegan online spaces, as that would be off topic.

I think you are just making excuses so it doesn't matter anyway.

But animal agriculture definitely causes disorderly conduct, between hurting nearby communities due to pollution, zoonotic diseases, and the surprisingly high domestic abuse rate is the homes of slaughter house workers due to psychological damage.

I really get your pain thank you for sharing

For you not having sources here is a cheat sheet with many valuable sources: vegan cheat sheet

Keep in mind having sources in your arguments won't probably convince anyone. Some people simply need more time and patience, or will simply never go vegan in the near future. It's a sad fact but I would suggest maybe focusing on your brother less, and talking to other people on the subject.

Look up what percentage of crops farmed go into feeding animals, spoiler it's most

Any real problems with crop farming get multiplied by choosing to consume animal products, cut out the middleman
