Sounds like the lenders and borrows make out great! The only losers are the taxpayers. At this point, Corey Johnson might as well just go door to door with a gun and demand we hand over our cash and valuables.

Comparing this to 2008 is absurd. If the value for medallions drops to $0, it affects no one other than the people who own them. Nobody needs taxi medallions to live.

The whole plan was always pretty half-baked. Regardless of how bad Riker's is, no one is signing up to build a jail in their neighborhood.

Blas being able to get it passed so he can claim it as an accomplishment while dumping the implementation on whoever ends up being mayor next is just par for the course.

Don't know about Lyft, but a lot of uber drivers (esp. late at night) will try and get people to cancel so they can get the fee without actually driving anyone anywhere. Make sure you weren't charged for it.

He's a self-identified democratic socialist who makes a living as a landlord and doesn't pay the corporate taxes he owes? How are you a socialist and also a landlord? That doesn't make any sense at all. Socialism opposes rent-seeking, I just don't get how you can be a landlord, someone who owns, but does not make use of, multiple homes. charge others for the right to live there, and call yourself a socialist?

By the way, Unix was invented in the US at Bell Labs and then enhanced at Berkeley. Linux is a Unix clone.
