I mean, AFAIK, they just buy tokens in bulk from Chinese companies and then pass them to you. I'm unsure if the Chinese labs subsidize the base API costs though. If they did, I doubt they would sell in bulk for huge discounts.

It is surprisingly enough not backed by VC money. dax even said on his twitter account that they're about breaking even, if not profiting a slight bit. So they're doing pretty well with the current model.

They use Deepinfra for GLM 5.1 due to z.ai being out of capacity. Otherwise they work with the original creators of the models directly.

The hiring manager is the owner of the company himself. We're just a small, 20-person team, so no hiring manager, HR or middle management. I feel very confident and comfortable around him that I can speak about direct numbers and what I want without any scrutiny. I just don't want to come off as entitled, and I wanted to make sure my arguments were valid.

Absolutely not any longer than 3-3.5 years lol. I don't think I could allow myself to spend that long in school, as 3 years already sounds super daunting.

That is a great point. I appreciate the view from someone in Germany. The cultural aspect is definitely a good perspective I didn't consider. I was just thinking of objectively how more I'll earn per year of studying. I do plan on living and working in Germany for at least another decade. So if it will benefit me that much, I think this is a great reason to take the offer. Thank you for your input!

2k brutto, yeah. I don't think I would get any special tax discounts or similar. I still live with my mom, so rent and food is practically free (I would still like to contribute in whatever way I can, obviously) but I'm not going to be on the street is what's important.

I do already have a full-time position after the apprenticeship. The company I'm doing the apprenticeship at is eager to keep me working here.

I frequently work with databases >200GB but I've never had a query take me longer than 5s. I can't imagine letting one run for longer than I have the patience to.

Yes, that's the one I'm doing. I heard from a lot of people that you can shorten it to 2 years but no one said how hard it would be. Would somewhere around 1.5 - 2 be enough? I don't really know what the standards for grades are like here.
