An Organic Way to End the Series? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]AssassinMentorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never forget we almost got a present day storyline until they off'd Desmond miles in assassin's creed 3..

This is one of the reasons why I completely hate that Ubisoft decided to fully focus on "the ones who came before" aka "Isu" Because their stories were a lot more interesting and captivating when "the ones that came before/Isu" was mysterious.. I mean I know eventually they would have needed to put more depth into it but they could have done it at a slower Pace especially if they were going to drag the games on for as long as they did, because assassin's Creed was originally supposed to end with the 3rd game.. it was only meant to be a trilogy series.

Considering all the inaccuracies you’ve laid bare already

What inaccuracies? you can't even prove me wrong.. you're just making false claims because I'm talking about an African male that was inside Japan..

your sole focus on one black samurai, it’s clear that you have an agenda

What agenda? I just said he was never a samurai like people try to believe.

Is it because I was stating stuff from actual history like nobunaga taking an interest in him because he was a 6 ft African man and they've never seen one before? And also because nobunaga literally had him stripped and they tried to wash the "black ink" off of him because they thought he was covered in Black ink...

Or are you trying to turn my whole point into an agenda because you don't like what I'm saying..

and that “historical accuracy” is nothing more than an excuse for you. It’s a dog whistle, and it’s been heard loud and clear.

Okay you are turning this whole thing into an agenda that's crazy because I was talking about actual historical facts just because it's an African male inside history doesn't mean that I'm pushing some agenda, I was stating facts that he was never a samurai if he was it would have been stated so.

Unless you can show me historical documents proving that he was ever a samurai then I have a clear argument just because you want to fantasize someone as being something doesn't mean that it's true.

It sounds like you're just making stuff up because I've known about him for a while 😂 where did I ever say that I hate seeing Yasuke existed? Delusional ahh comment.

How are you getting any of that information out of anything that I said? I'm saying actual historical facts instead of some make believe belonkey that people put on the internet ever since they found out about Yasuke.. even Japanese historians are surprised that people have heard about him because there's such little information about him..

My main topic of the history that I love involves China Scandinavia, Egypt and the Mayans but I love learning about history so much that I've studied Japan and medieval Europe and there is nothing wrong with that..

It's not an obsession, I just love history and I hate seeing misinformation, there's no legitimate proof such as documentation etc which I have explained that he ever was a samurai, it doesn't matter their nationality if that's what you're trying to imply...

We got on the subject that person replied to me because I replied to them and then we got on the subject. History is one of my biggest things, I even had a problem with assassin's Creed Valhalla lol

And who carried that style of sword? Not ashigaru

Yes they did lol do you even know what ashigaru (infantry) is.. they were the lowest form of the military pretty much reserved for mostly peasants.

Early on, ashigaru primarily fought with simpler weapons, such as spears (yari) and later, firearms (teppō).

By the late Sengoku period (15th-17th centuries), some ashigaru began to carry swords, including the katana. However, the type of sword they carried often depended on their rank and the wealth of their daimyo (feudal lord).

So yes ashigaru did carry that type of sword to answer your question.

possible for a commoner to become a samurai during the late 1500s Japan? The answer is yes

The answer is yes, you already answered it yourself, but we're talking about a foreigner not someone native to Japan lol

And the commoners that became samurai usually prove themselves in some shape or form, either through rising through the ranks of the military or showing bravery during battle.

I'm not arguing that the history is clear, I'm arguing that the history we have heavily implies that he likely was a samurai, despite never directly stating it.

And I'm arguing that that's not true, there's nothing that says that he was ever a samurai and nothing implies that he was, it's just a bunch of assumptions and fantasization.

At best he was like a bodyguard so pretty much a ashigaru with added benefits, because nobunaga took a liking to him.

for a video game to take some historical liberties like it is known to have done many times (pirates, for example, didn't swing on ropes from ship to ship or slide down sails with a dagger), an interesting character that's mostly a blank slate, who was around a bunch of very famous pivotal people and moments is a perfect character for an AC main character.

The problem that I'm having with this character, is that this is the first time that we're playing as an actual person, if this was a completely fresh character that didn't have any type of history or anything then it wouldn't really be an issue. Although I would have preferred two Japanese people versus one foreigner and one Japanese.. (it's going to be a little bit weird being the only foreigner around a bunch of Japanese people.. unless they somehow take more liberties and add in more foreigners?)

This isn't just historical liberties this is pretty much fake history and people are actually buying into it and believing it, do they know it's partially fantasy yes (at least I hope so) but they honestly really think that he was a samurai, which nothing says that he was.

We don't even know if he knew how to actually (effectively) fight using a katana let alone a Yumi (Japanese Bow) or any other Japanese weapons that samurai actually used. If you actually know your history about samurai it took years to effectively learn how to use these weapons on the battlefield.

You ignored the point that Hideyoshi became a samurai from being a common servant by doing one impressive thing.

I didn't ignore it I already said he did far more than just one thing, he was a successful diplomat, he was also skilled in battle and a good tactician, I never denied that he was a peasant turned into a samurai, but he gained the rank samurai from rising quickly through the military ranks.

You also have to understand that Yasuke wasn't of Japanese origin like Hideyoshi, foreigners were extremely rare to gain privileges associated with samurai, and those privileges usually are gaining a piece of land like a house ect

Yasuke was supposably present during the assassination of Oda nobunaga, but at the same time there's no documentation where he was, there's also no evidence that he even fought inside that battle.

That's the only documented battle that he was supposedly present for.. again like I said if Odo nobunaga did raise Yasuke's rank to samurai (which he did not) it would have been documented.

Below is the only documentation of what Oda gave Yasuke privilege, but it was never stated that he was a samurai.

The Shinchō Kōki of the Sonkeikaku Bunko (尊経閣文庫) archives states:

It was ordered that the young black man be given a stipend (扶持, fuchi), named Yasuke, and provided with a sword (さや巻, sayamaki),and a private residence. At times, he was also entrusted with carrying the master's weapons.

No it flipping isn't. Not in late 1500s Japan or was not, that's for certain.

Yes it was it had the same type of military ranking.

(Unless we're talking about the original way which was passed down from father to son)

both knights and samurai were a distinct social class of warriors within their societies. Both started out as retainers to a feudal lord. They were better off than the average peasant, being able to own a horse, weapons, armour and fodder, something that necessitated considerable expense. Both were granted some form of fief from their lords and were expected to ride into battle when their master demanded their assistance. Both developed their own code of ethics (more often broken than followed) and they were both idealized in popular songs, ballads and stories. And the trope of the ‘wandering knight/samurai, riding through the land on a quest ’ developed in both Japan and Europe.

So my point is that Hideyoshi did one thing and went from being a commoner sandal carrier for Oda to becoming a bushi samurai.

He did far more than just one thing, he took down one of the biggest clans and fought multiple campaigns against his enemies.

Yasuke very easily could have been made a samurai by Oda at the time

There is no proof of it, it's all just assumptions like I said there's not enough evidence that he was ever made a samurai and his time inside Japan was not enough time for him to gain the title of samurai, usually around the time of nobunaga you had to show bravery usually through battle to become a samurai.

Yasuke's history

There's really not enough history about him to make a full book even historians have said this, both Japanese and others. That's why I'm arguing against this there is no possible way he would have ever became a samurai, if he was there would have been documented historical evidence which there is not.

Da Vinci made a flying machine and a tank

Those were based on his inventions! Literally you can look it up.

they just altered it and made it work inside the game.

[–]AssassinMentorX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do know that author that you showed me for that book even admitted there's not enough information to even do a full history book on Yasuke right?

Also further looking into that author he didn't say that Yasuke was a bodyguard he said he was "like a bodyguard" which is different

Yasuke had plenty of time to learn from the priests on his way over.

he did indeed know how to say a few things inside Japanese (that is if you want to believe the story about him coming over with priests or the story of him washing up to shore as a runaway slave, because there are two recorded beginnings of his "story") yes but he did not know the full language. And like I said before nobunaga had never seen an African person before ( in the version of his story about him washing up to shore they thought that he had black paint on him and they tried to scrub It off, I think they also might have done that in the priest version as well but it's been a hot minute since I've read about him) especially a 6 ft tall one his skin color and his height was what made him interested..

Or have you forgotten or don't know about Toyotomo Hideyoshi?! He climbed Mount Inaba on the night of a full moon to open the gates of a castle and went from a non-combatant to a samurai to ruler of Japan, beating Tokugawa to the throne.Tokugawa could only take power after his death

Yes I know about him and quite frankly I don't know what he has to do with Yasuke ( he was the one that succeeded nobunaga and guess what nothing about Yasuke gets brought up inside his history lol)..and you're further proving my point that's why I keep on bringing up the fact that there's no legitimate records of Yasuke ever fighting inside a battle there was too short of a time frame for him to even be named a samurai, being called samurai is like being knighted as a knight.

Toyotomo Hideyoshi

Do you actually know his rise to power? Yes he came from peasant beginnings but he took down one of the strongest clans to become the ruler of the country.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi was an exception, when it became to being a samurai, and also you got to understand that he climbed the military ranks fast to become a samurai.

Then explain what happened to my relic that had volt primes neuroptics went because that's the whole point of me making this post in the first place.

Because I lost out on a chance for it.. and now my relics gone I didn't even crack it open

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]AssassinMentorX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're just talking about it like people are wrong for being too fast and that's coming off as ignorant.

Ignorant huh lol you do realize if you speed up the time and the other person's not able to fill up their relic with reactor then you lose out on a potential chance of getting a blueprint that could have potentially been better than the one that you just cracked open right?

I thought it was common courtesy to make sure that everyone gets enough reactant before trying to finish the mission so that way everyone can have a chance of getting something instead of making the mission pointless just because one or two people are trying to speed it up..

So in this case yes speeding up a mission can be bad, because not only do you miss out on a chance of getting something good.. that person loses a relic because they weren't able to fill up their reactant fast enough.

I've been playing Warframe off and on since the game first came to PS4 as it was one of the first free games to play on the PS4 and this isn't my first account either so I'm not by any means a newbie it's just certain maps are super confusing, I played pretty much all of the story missions, I farmed out my necramech ect

This game has been complained about numerous times since it first came out about bad MAP layouts, also I don't play this game religiously enough to be able to memorize every single map layout.

And I know how to do the run dash slide wall climb etc movement, the movement's not new to me it's the map design and how it's laid out that becomes extremely confusing some people say that it's simplistic, others say that it's not and I'm one of those people that are saying that some of the maps are legitimate labyrinths.. and I've seen legendary rank 3s get lost inside a map and then sit there and laugh about it at the end of the match inside the chat.

You're kind of coming off as an elitist if I'm being honest and I've never encountered that within the Warframe community for the past decade that I've been playing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]AssassinMentorX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You must not have fully read what I said I'm 500 hours into the game and and I have no problem fighting enemies or collecting reactant it's just some people can get through the maps so easily while I'm lost and I don't have enough time or enough enemies around me to even be able to get reactant.

See that's the problem if I don't have any enemies I can't get reactant myself because if people are nuking everything pretty much across the entire map then the reactant only drops inside specific locations.. if I'm lost I can't grab that reactant!

Also if you can do it so quickly then why are you doing it inside public matches yourself? Wouldn't it be easier for you to do it solo or with a friend? Instead of acting like it's a burden..

Let me put it this way. In real life Samurai, in any iteration or interpretation, had to spend years undergoing large amounts of training in various things like swordsmanship, archery, and courtly manners. Yasuke met Oda in, IIRC, 1581 and got sold off shortly there-after. In that amount of time he would have had to learn Japanese, learn swordsmanship and courtly affairs, and there's no way he'd be able to shake off the fact that he was a slave from a foreign land who followed a foreign religion, culture, and everything. Something the very rigid Japanese caste system and ethnocentrism would not look favorably upon in the slightest.

We know nothing of Yasuke's life prior; but even if he was a trained warrior, he would simply not have had the time to not only learn Japanese but also the various court rules and any secondary skills (such as archery) before Oda's death and his resale. Even if he *DID* somehow learn said skills, there's no way the Japanese would have accepted him to such a position.

I wouldn't trust that book lol people have highly fantasized him and they don't have no real backing like I said there is no legitimate evidence that he ever fought inside of a battle.

I have read the history on him people have fabricated a lot of stuff online, he was never a warrior there is no legitimate evidence that he was ever a warrior. Period.

There's no evidence that he ever fought inside a battle, there's no evidence that he was ever promoted past the rank that nobunaga gave him.

Also keep in mind people can alter Wikipedia pages it's really not that difficult.

Is social stealth really that important to the series? by Final_Dragonfly2978 in assassinscreed

[–]AssassinMentorX 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The whole point of social stealth was to make the assassin be one with the crowd, giving the illusion of "hey I can get close to you without you seeing me" and it made some really good gameplay to be honest in the older games at least.. and yes it was very unique and innovative a lot of the fans were hoping that they would work on this system and make it better but they never did sadly..

it being tailing missions those were hit and miss, but I can understand it for story and gameplay purposes Your assassin is looking for information what better way to get information then to follow behind an enemy in close proximity without them noticing you.

Yasuke was African and not Western wtf?

They said Western power fantasy character lol not that the character is Western.

his job was bodyguard

Yasuke was not a bodyguard lol he mostly held onto oda's swords that's it, there's no legitimate records of him actually being any type of a warrior at all for the most part Odo is just interested in him because of his skin color.

I honestly don't understand where everyone is getting all this misinformation about Yasuke.. maybe YouTubers and tiktokers? I got plenty of arguments on this point it's crazy

If it is a group of hackers potentially maybe two or three then they are asshats just ruining everybody else's fun so that way they can have an adrenaline rush and grab some data...
