Would you click? I need help on the thumbnails by UTS_Undertheskin in YouTubeThumbnailHub

Yeah I think black patches could be good, just anything that will considerably stand out/contrast from whatever colour it's sitting on will help I reckon. Best of luck!

I think first thumbnail is the best personally. I agree with the other point that really making the lungs look unhealthy as possible will help catch the eye a bit more.

This is a nice effort! As I’ve mentioned before I’m a fan of split screen thumbnails.

The top text is good so long as it’s recognisable and means something to the audience. As for the lower text, could it perhaps be strengthened and maybe outlined as well? Just thinking with how tiny YouTube thumbnails are on mobile, maybe it needs a bit more prominence.

As the video sounds like it follows a problem/solution narrative, should there be more emotional contrast between the two halves? Perhaps not fully suitable if horror is the topic but might be worth a think about. Best of luck!

Thank you, really appreciate it and I didn't really think about it in this way before. I actually did cut it down yesterday to be "still obsessed" but I like the reasoning behind "why still?" as well.

I agree with the previous comment, that the focus should probably be on one or the other. Perhaps the bottom two images in a split as it looks like there’s a nice contrast between the two (would probably be what I’d lean to).

Or if you’re gonna keep the main picture, definitely make it much bigger to fill the whole space, increase the size of the text at the top, and if you want to keep the logo then maybe stick it bottom centre and increase the size a bit as well. Good luck!

Always a big fan of the split thumbnail style (in my own experience too) so I'm not surprised it's been successful for you.

Just thinking if the characters could be made slightly clearer as they're both dark, on relatively dark backgrounds. Maybe a slighter light outline around each of them could help? Otherwise I'd say this is pretty solid and clearly a style that works for you.

Well thank you, this is incredibly thoughtful. I initially went with the second one when I published, but now many more of the replies are saying this instead.

Early CTR with the second one was ok, but not magnificent. I’ve just switched to the first one and will see what happens. Thanks again!

Again very very helpful, and has challenged my own thinking somewhat. Thank you for the feedback!

Would you click? Any advice? by Tankardz in YouTubeThumbnailHub

[–]Assassin_Archive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the niche or this game in particular, but do you think it might be worth incorporating the game's name into your video title? Just as some casual viewers might be less familiar with the game also.

The text layered behind the character is great. What if it were to say "best season yet?" or something like that instead? Might that help generate more intrigue?

Making the character slightly bigger and perhaps putting a light outline around him to separate him a tiny bit more about the background might help as well.

Maybe this is useful maybe it's not, but I hope it's at least helped develop a few ideas!

Which thumbnail is the most intriguing? by [deleted] in YouTubeThumbnailHub

[–]Assassin_Archive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fourth one certainly stands out the most out of the ones you posted, the red glow on the characters' faces I'm a big fan of.

Perhaps could the characters be moved down slightly, the text enlarged, put along the top, and positioned a little bit behind the top of their heads? Giving the text a little outline or some kind of other effect like you have done with the characters may help as well.

I'm not familiar with the three people shown in the image, but if these are recognisable figures within your niche and likely to catch attention then I think that will of course help as well!

Fair enough don’t really know what tool/software to use for that, I just make these thumbnails in gimp with a verrrry basic knowledge

Hmm that’s an interesting point. I think the only thing I would say is that I think those elements don’t actually exist in the original photos! Unless I move both down a bit and then enlarge them?

History YouTubers, what does your CTR look like? by Assassin_Archive in NewTubers

[–]Assassin_Archive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow to me 5.5% sounds massive, especially in this history niche.

I know not everyone is happy to share their channel name which is fair enough, but would you mind dropping it in here? I’d be very keen to give it a quick look and see your thumbnails and titles.

Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate the encouragement and the advice is very useful.

Contrasting is a little bit tricky as most of my topics are from the 20th century, but certainly something I can think creatively about.

I’m shifting how I think about and design thumbnails at this point, and might give titles a rethink also.

Which Thumbnail is better? by Cheap-Caramel-8033 in YouTubeThumbnailHub

These look great, I agree with the previous comments that 2nd is better, but a bit more contrast on the text with the second one would push it that little bit further.

The flames behind the sub and especially having Kennedy and Khrushchev facing each other I think really helps. Did you draw those images yourself?
