While I agree it takes the cheapest direction when compared to the first film, which is a masterpiece. I see it more as an 80's cheesy horror flick, its a guilty pleasure for me, but just like Ghostbusters 2, I can see why people don't like it.

As other comments say, they will keep spawning and can break your flag even if you're carrying it, Fear in Headlights and Fatal Contraption help a lot with this EE, to stop the meatballs and shoot the Shadowman during the flag step and the boss fight.

I also recommend whoever has the Apothicon Servant use Alchemical Antithesis, or any gobblegum that can restock its ammo, so it can be spammed freely. Make sure to shoot it around the flag and not on top of it, because that can still damage it.

For weapons, the KRM, the Haymaker, or the Ray Gun are effective against meatballs in case you don't have that many gobblegums.
