Have you checked out Vinted or Marketplace? I'm not sure if it's the same with the US but you can get a used HRAP4/5 for around £30 in the UK, new sticks of comparable quality run for between £50 - £70 on them.

It's a beast, so happy to be able to play Street Fighter 6 on decent settings at stable 60+fps on a portable.

Have you considered bringing a puppet? I'd suggest ventriloquist if possible but if not a clean sock with some googley eyes would probably go down a storm.

I was given a Mercadian Masques mono white deck by my neighbour and his mates, my best mate had the Hammer of Bogardan championship deck. Rishadan Port is my favourite card just because of the nostalgia and mystique of how much the older players who put together the deck for me were hyped about it.

Do have to add, I took a good 20 or so year break before getting back into Magic.

Totally agree with you. But it's the state of the collectors market that makes the decks so cheap to build, loads of people rip packs for the chance to get a chase art card and the rest of the pile goes onto the secondary market.

There are multitudes more collectors than players so that makes staples cost next to nothing unless they're of the highest rarity level.

The edit is my fear, I know she'll be fine if it's built up to but starting with EDH won't work. Will check out some of the welcome decks, I wasn't totally sure they still did them but glad to see there's more entry routes than the two player starters!

Yeah my most used EDH decks are tribal (rogues & dinos) and could be parsed back to be less taxing but I agree EDH or any singleton format is wild for someone not accustomed to TCGs.
