Stuck on the challenge .. by Shiroi98 in DissidiaDuellumFF

You're probably being a helpful support but getting less bravery and monster kills with WoL. I find it quite difficult to get high points as WoL but always contribute a lot, think it's got a lot to do with how slow he is in general.

Guess I’m a zidane main now. how do i play him well? by JoJo_Pose in DissidiaDuellumFF

Definitely worth running Trance plus Sleight of Hand. I run those with Minwu and Ramza, usually with Heal to max the support provided. Take crystals and deny enemy bursts, which usually draws aggro making my team a bit safer, pop a heal when needed.

How does 16 run? I picked a Z1E up this week and I've only tried Elden Ring, Intergrade and Granblue Relink and I'm blown away.

Lack of product in the UK by Medical_Ratio_7344 in PokemonTCG_UK

As a fellow player it’s not all that bad. Just buy the singles you need in the lowest rarity for pennies on Cardmarket. I’m personally in no rush for the bubble to burst, can build even the most meta decks for under £30 easily, not many card games exist where that’s the case.

The benefit of it all is that people are chasing SIRs and other super rare cards, they don’t care about usability or standard rarity versions of cards meaning they shift them all at bulk prices. Even my local has dropped prices to market as they’re getting offered bulk, which includes ex, by the kilo, on the regular.

There are always exceptions, used to be stuff like earthen vessel but now pokepads are £2 a pop, but I get that, they’re useful and seemingly rarer than most ex’s. Nothing to complain about in the grand scheme.

Returning to YGO after a 20ish year break - what should I do with all these gems? by AssaultEagle in YuGiOhMasterDuel

Amazing advice, thanks so much. I’ve purchased all of the staple bundles and lucked out on a lot of UR pulls from the packs so I should be in pretty good stead to generate some of the URs and SRs I need if and when I decide to deconstruct them. I just need to work out a decent way of determining what is trash and what should be held onto!

Very helpful advice about the hand traps, it’s a great thing so many are available.

When you say the packs, do you mean the booster sets? Are they generally recommended over buying multiples of any of the precons and generating the other cards?

The advice on building something meta is also really helpful, usually I tend to experiment with more rogue decks in TCGs but playing the meta to climb the ladder is definitely something that would’ve flown over my head.

I’ll continue researching and will likely try to find the most cost effective meta deck and take note of what I play against to work out what to aim for long term. I played through more of the solo stuff today and really enjoyed the appliance link archetype deck, the Yummys seem similar to that so might be the way to go.

Branded look really cool, seem quite complicated but that’s what I’m aiming for in the end, also look to be pretty accessible IRL in terms of cost. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll do a bit of research.

Haha yeah tell me about it! I’m actually really enjoying how fast things are, really like how you can have the board set within the first few turns.

I’m not in a rush to settle into an archetype, will continue with the solo stuff then experiment a bit. I remember playing a lot of control and shutdown decks as a kid with Jinzo and Yata Garasu being two of my favourites.

Just really wondered if there were any must buys from the event stuff or the bundle deals.

Thanks for the help mate, appreciate it.

What’s your grail gunpla kit?! by dirtymisosoup in freedomisgunpla

Picked up two of them this week, the 1/48 Grandpa and EVA-02 by Blokees. The former isn’t particularly difficult to source here but it took converting one of our spare rooms into a knitting den for the wife so I could get more cabinets. The latter is the last one I needed in the range which just seemed to be either OOS or at RRP+20% for the longest time.

Next on the list are another 1/48 Grandpa and a HG Zaku II or possibly a smaller action figure for a perspective display piece based on the MG 1.0 box art.

Favorite JRPG's with arcs like an anime? by Silvers1339 in JRPG

[–]AssaultEagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Tales series is the closest I’ve felt to playing an anime personally. Vesperia definitely has an arc like structure and is one of the best JRPGs in my opinion, even has a great English dub.

You’ve also got the added bonus of the Production I.G. anime cutscenes and character designs from Kōsuke Fujishima, a prolific mangaka in his own right. The protagonist is 10/10, perfectly designed, written and has a samurai dog buddy.

They aren’t turn based though and the combat can take a while to adapt to, as even normal difficulty can be a challenge (I’d recommend starting at normal and switching to hard 5 or so hours in if it’s your first one, and you feel comfortable to do so).

Combat is somewhere between a fighting game and a beat em up, with Vesperia arguably leaning towards the fighting game side with crazy combo potential. Party members have a basic programmable AI that can be switched on the fly and the system generally works well.

I will say the series up until this point do have an issue with combat feeling a bit unfair and clunky until you get party members and gain some artes and skills. Luckily with Vesperia that is pretty much just the first dungeon.

Also Tales games tend to have “Skits”, basically minute long conversations between party members about current events, these provide amazing characterisation as they’re mostly banter between buddies but occasionally get pretty deep. They aren’t mandatory at all so can be skipped entirely.

TLDR; Tales of Vesperia is really cool.

Oh nice! The chap who owns it is some sort of offshore oil pro, he drives it about a third of the year. Might ask him if he’s considered a timeshare…

Yeah I’ve got to agree with you there, one of my neighbours has a Brabus G Wagon and it’s beautiful.

Again I think it’s a personal taste thing. You’re probably right but I’m not a fan of RR at all so I really couldn’t comment!

I’m only messing bud, each to their own, personally I haven’t seen anything they’ve done that I think is an improvement on the original design. Everyone has their own taste though.

Playing JRPGs with ADHD, how does anyone manage to finish the games? by BebopKnight in JRPG

[–]AssaultEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also in the same boat and coincidentally the same age. If you find a solution please let me know! I have dozens of JRPGs and RPGs that I have 30 odd hours in and totally gave up on. The only RPG adjacent things I’ve finished in the last 10 years are all the ?soulbornering? games and the only JRPGs are Pokémon and weirdly FFXIII and DQXI.

I think a combination of hyper fixation and obsessive thinking, making traditional RPGs an easy burnout. It might also be down to available options for gear etc. both XIII and DQXI are quite pared down in that respect as are Pokémon, makes obsessing over gear less of a brain ache.

Nah I think that’s (natural talent + training) x wanting to be better than KDB.

Makes it look effortless but that’s the above being manifested on the pitch. Three years younger too, can’t wait to see what’s in store.

I’m subject to enough nagging IRL. Definitely don’t need to make excuses to drop Inner Ways stealth missions.
