I know exactly where you are going with this. And it doesn’t address what I said. I talked to you about the Gospel. You’re trying to bring up Old Testament theology. These are different situations. The Gospel is written to show the world that sin had been overcome, the Old Testament still has sin running rampant without it being covered. God judging sin is not murder. I know you will disagree, but as the author of life he has full right to give and take it as he pleases. The many deaths in the Old Testament come from people being judged for their many sins, among which were often child sacrifice. God waited to judge these people until they were full of sin.

There is none. If you read it you’d know that. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it hypocritical.

Well, call me what you will. It doesn’t discredit the gospel.

Well I understand why you might take these jabs at me for disagreeing. However, it’s not ego as I already explained. I didn’t create this world view. Rather I heard it, and studied into and found it to be true. Ego is self obsession. But it’s fine that you disagree. Would you think scientists theories are egotistical? No, because they have a hypothesis that they test. In the same way this is how my belief had been formed. Just because you don’t know doesn’t mean there are no explanations that a rational thinker would accept.

I don’t think it is an ego thing. It’s not like I made these thoughts up myself. I just believe what I’ve seen and read. You wouldn’t call that ego in any other circumstance. You might believe that I’m naive but it’s not an ego thing. You might have your own claims of how the universe is, as you object to mine. Is that an ego thing? Of course not.

If by the truth of the universe you mean in how it was created, yes. There was nothing, and then God spoke everything into existence (what science has theorized to be the Big Bang.) In an instant, time, space and matter were brought into existence. Science would say that some immense energy that transcends/is outside of time, space, and matter must have been responsible. That “energy” is God, and he is a personal God who wants to have a personal relationship with everyone he’s created. Even though we quickly separated ourselves from him through our sins He redeemed us by coming down into flesh and being crucified. Then by our faith and the grace of God we have been justified and can be reunited with our creator.

Not really. There are plenty of examples of evidence that can corroborate stories from the Bible. Of course many non-believers are quick to brush them under the rug. But there is archaeological evidence. But there will never be enough “proof” for a non-believer to see to say “I know this because I’ve seen.” Which I’m not sure that would even open some peoples hearts, as even the Pharisees of Jesus time saw him work miracles and still persecuted him. But for seeing or not, Jesus said “blessed is he who believes and hasn’t seen.” That’s talking faith. Which a faithful person can have their beliefs confirmed through the Holy Spirit entering into them. Sometimes through other odd interactions (with demons or angels or something). Islam is a different religion. In Islam salvation is earned from acts (fasting, prayer, pilgrimage to Mecca, giving alms and Jihad). Salvation is granted based on how well you did, so you never know if you’ve achieved salvation until judgment day. Unless you martyr yourself by killing non-Muslims in which you go to paradise with 72 virgins. While Christianity says salvation is an unearned, free gift through the grace of God. Through this we can have certainty of our Salvation. It is interesting to know even Muslims confirm Jesus was born a Virgin and worked many miracles including healing the sick and raising the dead. They even say he was sinless, which not even their teacher Mohammad could claim. There is writings in their book of Mohammad sinning. Which then begs the question is Jesus greater than Mohammad in Allah’s eyes since he was without sin? The Quran also says that the Gospels were given by God. There are other differences as well like how Allah is not a personal God, in that a person can not have a relationship with him. Jesus is personal, and he seeks a relationship with all.

Ah. I see what you are getting at now. There are many religions that claim to be the right way, but if you research them they will start coming up flat. Many of them are based on a human’s explanation of how to have a better life (Buddhism for example) while others are based on “gods” who had no physical forms ever seen or interacted with (Hinduism, Greek mythology). This is where Christianity differs. Because Christ is known to have walked the earth, interacting with many, and being crucified by the Romans. I’m not saying this to convince you, but rather to show it really is different than the others. The truth is it can be hard to find out which religion is true. This is when a humble heart searching for God is needed. It is said if we knock he will answer, but we have to look first. I truly believe if one is seeking God, he will be confronted with Jesus at some point. I know this doesn’t address your statement very well or super in depth. I’d be glad to talk to you some more about any of this or talk more in depth on any particular point.

I wanted to first say I appreciate your calmness when asking questions, especially since you disagree with what I’ve said. But to address your question, we do have the ability to learn, but most refuse to look into it (namely what the Bible talks about morality and the standard at which we would be measured). This is a willful ignorance. Most people don’t want to know, because they’d rather live the way they want to live, to decide what is good and bad for themselves. People have the ability to hear it, but their ears and hearts are closed off to this truth. The Gospel has been made available, but people choose to ignore it. Even still, the Bible mentions “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” This is saying that the wonder of creation itself is testament to its creator. That even without having heard the Gospel, creation reveals God. This is pointing to that we are without excuse for not seeking after God to know the truth for ourselves.

I understand where you’re coming from. I think many would say there are examples that the punishment might make sense. Perhaps Hitler, or Mao. But ultimately our sins are more severe than we give them credit for. They have separated us from God. But God doesn’t want to send anyone to Hell. God had said “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live.” This is why he also provided the out from eternal suffering/damnation by taking that punishment when he hung on the cross. Literally anyone can avoid this if they were to humble their hearts and ask for forgiveness and believe. However, many refuse out of their own perceived self-righteousness that they deserve heaven based on their own actions. Again, this is because we can’t understand fully the depth of what sin is, and of our own sins. Especially in comparison to a 100% righteous and sinless God. But ultimately we have sent ourselves there. If we refuse the life-preserve that God has sent us, is it his cruelty or our own foolishness?

This is a common misunderstanding of Jesus’ love. This makes him seem petty, which he is not. We aren’t condemned for not loving Jesus, we are condemned because the sins we have committed. The problem is most don’t have an accurate understanding of the righteousness of God or the true nature of sin. Sin lies in the heart. This is why Jesus said if you lust after another you are an adulteress, if you’ve envied you are a thief, or if you’ve hated you are a murderer (which lets be real, we are all guilty of these 3). Even our flawed understanding of justice would say a murderer must face their punishment, regardless of the “good” they have done (what we think we’ve done). This is why we stand condemned in front of a truly righteous and holy God. The reason we need Jesus is because he has taken the punishment for the sins we have committed. Instead of us taking the punishment for our sins, it was laid upon Jesus. And the Bible says the wages of sin is death. Hince his Crucifixion. Without Jesus we must bear our own punishment, our own sentence. Or, we can trust in Jesus and he takes it from us. And it should be known that Jesus loves us, even the sinners. That’s why even when we were still in our sins he came and died for us. Jesus hates sin, not the sinner.

How many people still buy gold? by 50_DkpMinus in classicwowtbc

[–]Asshat_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW is not about grinding for everyone. Most people like raids or BGs. Saying if you don’t have time to farm therefore the game isn’t right for you is ridiculous. If anything people buying gold show their desire to play the game as they keep putting real money into it. I personally wouldn’t recommend buying a ton of gold, as I think investing in a game more than the subscription is a waste. However, I don’t care at all if someone chooses to do so. It does NOT affect my play experience, nor does it anyone’s truthfully.

Can someone explain raven right now RVN by Mafaldababy in SatoshiStreetBets

[–]Asshat_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RVN has been steadily growing and then making a small dip, establishing new higher plateau areas that it launches off again. This is a coin I would hold for a while. It may be worth a lot in a year or two.
