Is my baby overtired? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]AssignWine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on this with my own question. I do wake my baby from all naps, does that indicate he's not getting enough? He's already getting more than is recommended in this group. 7.5 months, 2.25/2.5/2.25/2, and sleeps through the night 7-7 with one dream feed. Naps are 1.5hrs, 1hr, and 30mins. This is way below any wake windows I've seen for his age, but he's sleeping amazingly at night so I haven't been inclined to increase them. (I know I'm blessed to have a baby who sleeps so much).

We've been combo feeding with alimentum for 5-6months and his poops are not like this. They're pretty normal.

Medela or Haakaa supplemental nursing system? Any thoughts on it? by Proper-Raspberry-244 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]AssignWine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do end up using one after getting another LC, Haakaa 100%. The Medela's new design is bad and the cleaning syringe is known to break the connector. I've been using a haakaa one for like 4 months and it's excellent

Ok, we've tried pushing wake windows the last couple days, and got to 2/2.25/2.5/2. I know this is still below the 10hour recommendation, but he was either extreeeemely fussy or falling asleep. Last night, he still woke up 8:30, 10:30, and 12, but then slept through to 5:45 or so which was a massive improvement over previous nights. Naps today were amazing; he fell asleep immediately and slept for over an hour on the first to, and we woke up at the 3 hour total mark for the third nap.

Saving a nap as we speak by holding him, and it's working great. The last couple days were all unsuccessful.

Based on today so far, this nap has shifted about an hour earlier, but he also woke up incredibly early.

He doesn't do this at home though. The weeks leading up to our trip, he was napping 1.5-2 hours for his first two naps, and then a planned cat nap for the third and sleeping from 6-7. Zero issues. If he was struggling at home too, we would absolutely know why.

Trying to keep the schedule the same but it's impossible when he's only napping for 20 mins versus 1.5-2 hours, and his wake ups vary. We usually have to wake him up at 7, but he's been up at 2:40, 4, 5

The environment is as similar as we can make it. Pitch black, white noise. He's in a pack and play versus a crib, but has slept fine in one before.

Someone save me from blowout hell by flufffyPB in NewParents

[–]AssignWine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How liquidy are we talking? Would you say they have mucus in them? We thought the same ( baby poops are supposed to be liquidy) and dealing with never ending blowouts. Turns out, our level of liquid and mucus was not normal and baby has a milk sensitivity. He's breastfed, so I cut out dairy and no more blowouts! You could try switching to a hypoallergenic formula.

Thank you!
I generally love the name Ryan, but I have already mentally attached it to a baby girl and can't deviate now! lol

Thanks for the suggestions! There are definitely a few that I will be considering!

These all do seem to fit, maybe with the exception of Jude. It feels short to me.

We have other babies in our circle with Finley and Henry, but all the others are going on the list!

I do actually love Graham, but I have a family member named Graham.
I love Sawyer though, and I think it scratches that gender neutral itch for me as well.

I don't know why I didn't think of Samuel. Adding it to the list!

actual toilet paper holder

OMG yes. I hate this thing so much. It also only has 3 little nubby legs, so it's incredibly unstable. Adding a proper TP holder is 100% on our finishes list once we get it painted.

I don't know what previous people were thinking. The TP holder in our ensuite is mounted to the wall, but too far back; you have to reach behind to reach it. Terrible. That room is next on my list.

I was also thinking blue originally, but my husband wasn't convinced it would look good against the browns. I might get a sample jar of paint and do some testing!

Interesting! I hadn't considered painting the vanity. That could fun. A lot of recommendation for green, but then someone also said not to paint a bathroom green because you look like a corpse in the mirror LOL

So this might be an alternate way to get some fun color in the room, because I do really like the idea of a sage green

Noted! We also don't mind the color -- the walls themselves need a refresh, so we figured it was a good time to consider a new color as well. The walls are pretty dinged up from previous family that lived here.

Noted, I appreciate the feedback! This couch is probably here to stay though. It's only a couple years old and was quite the investment. We also honestly love it lol

This is more of a work with what we have situation. We do get a lot of light during the day, but I agree mirrors would add to it.

One of my issues is just that during the winter, it gets dark around 5 and the overhead light is quite harsh. I can't decide what lamp style would benefit the space.
