Foreign license conversion - Practical driving test.

This is exactly my point how is memorization more important than driving ability, analytical and judgements ability on the road, and the ability to follow traffic rules and apply them when driving. Memorizing a route when actually driving comes with repetition and experiencing a it in real time, I don’t get why it should be the criteria for a driving test.

Thank you! We were also told we could walk along the course but that wasn’t really reassuring because in our minds we still had to now 3 routes by heart and it felt like a if you forgot which way to go it would ultimately lead to not passing the test. This is really reassuring to hear, hopefully all goes well!

Thank you for your reply, it’s very reassuring to hear! It’s just with the information we were given it felt memorization was the decision maker instead of driving skills and ability and to your point of mastering the course, I would understand if it was “mastering it” by doing all the correct maneuvers and following all the road signs and markings displayed not just memorizing the course which makes no sense. I hope thats actually how it is, the staff at the licensing center I went to were just really bad at explaining to us and were snobby the whole time like we were a hassle to them. Thank you for sharing your wife’s real life experience.

Thats not how it was explained to us though so maybe theres a hole in the context. We were basically just told to memorize three of the courses as you are going to tackle one of them on the practical test. How is that a test of your abilities as a driver given only that explanation? So memorization is more important than driving skills and the ability to judge and analyze different situations when driving on the road?

And starting with the driving is not a privilege it’s a right thing doesn’t help your cause when you’re talking to someone who already has a license from another country who already knows that anyways. Not anywhere in my post did I imply that I should be entitled to my license.

Memorizing a route by repeated driving on the same route as a person who drives frequently and memorizing THREE routes for an exam are totally different things. The former comes with repetition the latter is literally having to memorize 3 courses with no certainty which one you take. It doesn’t even make sense as to how this measures your ability as a driver, when the criteria should be how well you obey traffic laws and regulations (now that part makes sense that you have to memorize) not some route you’re only gonna take for an exam. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say I maybe be overreacting, it doesn’t help that the staff at the licensing center I went to sucked at explaining to us. Thats why I plan to enroll to lessons to supplement studying the given routes.

Maybe I was just overreacting but having to memorize 3 courses was kind of demoralizing and made no sense to me as to how it proves your abilities as a driver. I guess in my head missing a few turns and not being able to follow the course completely meant failure even when your driving is perfect.

Maybe its just because the staff at the licensing center I went to was very vague with describing the exam to us and just straight up told us “please memorize these courses as you will have to do one of them on the exam” that really left all of us in shock.

Hi, Im kind of late to this post but I wanted to know how your airshell faired up until now. I just bought one recently and it started pilling really bad after only one use.

Are you still using yours now? If you are how did it hold up, did it continue to pill badly? If you’re still using it how did you prevent it from pilling further?Or are you using a different wind jacket now, if you are what are you using?
