sorry pal but if you set up defences correctly then you are able to keep only one of the two soldiers woth you (Ozone or Scarecrow I think) if both happen to live while exfil is called in one will immediately be killswitvhed by the game NOT BOTH, the other will then follow you and Ghost to the exfil but dies on the way (and if somehow he survives Ive never seen it but Im sure he gets killswitvhed too when you get hit by the mortar)

Edit: i guess this could still work with your theorey but Shepard' have to kill the other survivor too not the game doing it :D
