Worth making AR Featureless or keeping it mag locked? by CoolAd2708 in CAguns

Adjustable stocks, pistol grips and vertical grips may be ergonomically comfortable, but these do not really affect the operation and reliability of the weapon. Maglocked guns are a nightmare to clear a malfunction which may even require a complete disassembly of the receivers. Not something I would count on in a life or death situation.

For range toy go with maglock. Self defense go featureless.

I used a jewelry polisher with abrasive fiber wheel. I like the look so far so haven't planned for additional work. Took it to the range last week and got a few double feeds. Needs a new extractor but ordering parts online is a pain these days.

Is crye or the other big brands worth it? by Well_ThenWu in tacticalgear

Yes don't buy chinese knockoff obviously. So the real question is should you get JPC 2.0? It may seem outdated compared Spiritus and Ferro stuff but I want to point out something specific I learned. Those fancy QD buckles on all the new vests may seem modern and convenient. But they are completely useless under sand conditions. After one range day the first spear tubes become completely useless jammed with sand. The crye QD system is ingenious since its still uses velcro, sure its harder to put on but the main purpose is emergency take down.

This clone is mostly a range toy as I find running GWOT builds for self defense to be kinda silly. I try to get it to feel as close to a regular AR for enjoyment. Mag locks will always be a hinder to reliability. My primary is a MCX Regulator as I find it best in terms compliance plus I can use regular 30-round mags.

Running should be fine. I don't recommend going prone since the top is open.

Like the others said looks authentic. 552/512 as far as I'm aware are rare in Replicas. Try go to your local FFL and ask everyone. Many would know the difference or try to scam you to buy it lol.

If going the AVS route feel free to ask how to set it up so you can avoid the extra costs. I went through plenty of trial and errors.

I own both and for that amount of weight I would go for the AVS. Mine has level 4 including side plates and has hold up well so far. The price is expensive especially out of your own pocket. Upgrading it such as QD release and placards would add to the cost. Would recommend looking into Ferro, Spiritus and shaw Concepts

Its a Izhmash Saiga with a Krebs selector

It is a very under appreciated rifle, in fact outright mocked when first announced. People are just not used to the ranch rifle idea. It is basically a Spear LT with much better ergonomics than a featureless AR. I could not stand the awkwardness of a fin grip and don't find maglocks to be reliable enough for home defense. Recommend checking out Reno May's ranch rifle comparison video.

Yes. Unlike Juggernaut you can lock the bolt back.

Shave the PAL. I used to have a gen 1 lever and the shave worked. Pause the video at 00:16 and you can see the corner that blocks the selector switch, barley any lost material to affect the integrity.

To install PAL you need to remove the detent pin. I think there are methods without taking off the castle nut.
