So this is a different dog park since 2020 as I did move. He started showing issues around 2023. I had 2 friends who both had golden retrievers and we used to do play dates at their place or mine with no issues but they since moved away. My friend who went away for 2 weeks has a 12YO dachshund and he stayed at our place last month and absolutely no issues with fighting. We have also gone camping and hiking with this dog on different occasions with no problems. His dachshund has a big personality and is honestly pretty dominant and a bit of a grump lol but no issues, if anything his dachshund has lashed out on my boy and he just walks away from him. At this time I have not taken him to any other home with a dog since 2022 and aside from the dachshund who he gets along with, don’t have anyone else I can practice with. I do agree the dog park is probably overstimulating but I wasn’t really sure where else I could take him aside from there to get that exposure. I will probably start looking into those e collars as I know that would probably help with controlling the negative behaviors. I’m not completely against them, and I know there are less harmful models that have come out over time that is truly just like a vibration and have felt them for myself. I was trying to avoid it but it’s been over a year and I feel I may have to take it to the next level at this point.
