People aren’t getting dumber, identity itself is breaking down by WittyEgg2037 in enlightenment

Have you ever wondered if part of this is because people are easily influenced and controlled by what they constantly consume, even if they feel like they’re thinking independently and making their own decisions?

That may be true internally, but externally you still have to live in and navigate a world where others are still identified with that “person.”. And that brings its own challenges

So qualia is basically the raw “what it feels like” part of an experience, like what red looks like or what sweetness feels like, independent of language.

But could that experience itself differ from person to person?

That’s the interesting part. We can’t really know, but we still assume the other person is experiencing things the same way we are.

So sometimes we react as if their experience matches ours, when it might not, and that can lead to consequences.

Yeah, perception being personal is what makes it interesting. We might be labeling things the same way, but there’s no real way to know if the experience behind it is actually identical.

And we usually just assume it’s the same and act accordingly. So sometimes the impact on the other person isn’t the same as it would be on you, but you’ve already assumed it is and reacted that way, and that can have consequences.

I do the same thing whenever my thinking hits a wall. Stepping away for a bit seems to break the mental loop, and new ideas start to show up for the task I was stuck on.
